Man this is going to be BY FAR the weakest team since 2004.

Even in 2016 they managed to put together a really good roster with LeBron, Curry and others dropping out.

It's weak in the context of typical U.S. Olympic teams but it's all relative given the field. Should still be the overwhelming favorite for gold.

Its just were used to having a roster full of All-NBA Team guys so its interesting with the likes of Holiday and Middleton on the team this time around.

But yes, they are still the overwhelming favorite.

harden, beal, durant, lilliard and booker are world class

green, tatum, bam are very good , so is paul and george if they join.

Of course.... Team USA will always have a great team. I just mean its a little different from the All-NBA rosters we've become accustomed to. Kind of reminds me of the 2000 or 2004 teams. Star players all around but missing a lot of the top dogs.

CP3 is out. Harden is out as well. Kawhi with his injury is an unknown but I wonder of the Clippers push him to stay home.

love being on the team is just surprising given he's practically been MIA the last couple seasons and was constantly hurt this past season

so why is he on the team then. de andre ayton is way better.
Ayton isn't an American citizen. Even if he was, FIBA would need to make an exception because he has previously played for the Bahamian national team.

Jalen Rose is trying to turn this into a racial issue when Ayton isn't eligible, and the US has previously sent all-black teams to the Olympics.

While Love making the team was a little surprising, making this a race thing is ridiculous.

Top centers like Towns + Ayton aren't eligible / play for other national teams. Theres also a boat load of guys that dropped out of playing.

Jalen Rose is such a f***ing idiot. Didn’t even look at the last team USA roster before making himself look like a total jackass.

im sure there must be better players than love that is eligble.
Ayton put up the same numbers as Bagley but no one talks about him being a bust because the Suns got Paul and FINALLY got good.

Rose just wanted to make it something it wasn’t without having any knowledge of what actually went on. That’s his schtick.

Love has had a tough couple of years and isn't great defensively but he's a very good shooting big man who is I'd also a phenomenal rebounder and passer. I think he'll fit in well. Besides, he committed and that is more than can be said for a lot of other players. A lot of props to the guys who signed up.

LOL well it is an exhibition. Even the original Dream Team dropped an exhibition to college players once upon a time. But still lolworthy.

Not really

Team USA stunned by Nigeria in Olympic tuneup

Team USA, which had four days of practice this week, played a very isolation-heavy game, as it was clear there wasn't much chemistry yet developed. But with players such as Damian Lillard, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, it has some of the best isolation players in the world.

But all three were rusty and bothered by the opposition's size, combining to shoot 9-of-30. Durant finished with 15 points but made just two of his first 11 shots, as Nigeria built an eight-point lead with less than two minutes to play.

The Americans made a furious rally and twice had the ball with a chance to tie, but their execution was poor. After Team USA coach Gregg Popovich called his last timeout with 13 seconds to play, the ensuing possession was messy and resulted in no points.

Nigeria made a crushing 20 of 42 3-pointers, repeatedly passing its way through Team USA rotations in racking up 21 assists. Guard Gabe Vincent, who plays for the Miami Heat, made 6 of 8 3-pointers and finished with 21 points. Caleb Agada, who plays in the Israeli league, made three 3-pointers and finished with 17 points.

Shouldn't Kevin Durant be able to score 100 points against Nigeria, like Wilt Chamberlain once did?

A lack of practice time together is no excuse.

yeah, there's absolutely no excuse to be losing to nigeria

i know it was an exhibition, but that's still one of the biggest upsets in recent sports history

Credit to the Nigerians but at the same time...how in the actual f*** do you lose to that?

It's not even "hurrrr poor country lol" It's the fact that even with some of the huge names like Harden, LeBron and Curry out, that the is still a god squad. Like these are the best players in the world, most of them being at least all-star level if not all NBA.

There's no country in the world that can match a roster like that and the sheer difference in talent should be enough to win going away. Unreal
