Well something of a subpar game from Jokipakka, not too bad or anything just a couple of fumbles. Does this mean KConn ended up with the best preseason out of the competing young D? Maybe more of a tie between he and Jokipakka. Didn't feel like anyone really grabbed the job with both hands...

Well I'm giving major props to all of the Dallas fans who went to these games. Haven't seen a preseason garner this much interest form the locals in years. Cool. Beans.

Connauton just doesn't strike me as any sort of upgrade to our current defense. He's a PP specialist at best in my eyes. I think he can move the puck well and has a great point shot, but only when he has that bit of extra space to do it. Jokipakka is better defensively and that's what we need. Would I take KConn over Gonchar? Absolutely. But who knows what Jim and Lindy want to do at this point. Those two see things differently than a lot of us as far as defense goes.

It makes no sense to put Campbell in there for 20 games when he hasn't even played a full AHL season, and just leave him in the press box the other 60.

He needs to stay in the A, no matter how hard it is to watch the other two.

Well I didn't say the whole season. Maybe two or three games this year to see how he can handle it.

I'm pretty bummed he didn't get more pre season games in.

No one that we can afford

I disagree. The MTL situation with Tokarsky/Budaj is ripe for the picking.

I think KConn had the best pre-season, yes. It's surprising that this year none of hte young guys - whether forwards or defense - grabbed the bull by the horns. These things happen, but just suprising.

Didn't get to watch the game tonight, but it sounds like Anderp Lindbackup struck again.

Last year our boys had no confidence in front of him. He can't catch a puck, he has very awkward and inefficient movements, and he can't control a rebound to save his life. You will lose >50% of the games he plays in. No doubt about it. Get ready for that.

Wish you guys the best of luck this year. Dallas is a team that I enjoy watching (though that may change with Spezza now...). Cheers everyone! Good luck!

since we can't have anything nice is this #bebadforbarzel or #crumbleforcrouse?

I'm not in agreement with either of you but Nemeth is light years better positionally than Fistric was. That said he's not physically gifted enough, footspeed wise, to make up for positional mistakes. So he has to be pretty spot on to be good, otherwise the speed of the league now, especially against a great skating team like Tampa will make him look bad.

He's not Gonchar bad. He's also not Mattias Norstrom either.

Nemeth like Chiasson may be a trade chip in the future because his style doesn't mesh with what Dallas is building. That doesn't make him awful. It makes him a guy who's blemishes stand out more in our run and gun tempo. We'll see. He's going to get more than a cursory look this season and time will tell. IMO he's not barely a #6/AHL tweener nor he is a 2nd pairing monster.

So I'm just catching up on this and still some pages to go but I'll chime in on Nemeth. I do think the Fistric comparison is bad just thinking to what he looked like last season. I wasn't expecting him to be so mobile or able to make a first pass but I was impressed last season. I thought he was pretty fast for a 235 pounder. I was very impressed with all that along with important things like positioning. Fistric on the other hand wasn't as good a skater, slower, worse hands, and bad positionally. Maybe my memory is giving Nemeth too much credit though. I don't think he's been very good this preseason. But unless my memory is off from last season and he's not just having a bad preseason I don't see how he doesn't fit, unless you think to fit with the Stars all the D have to be sleek, offensively gifted guys.
