Quick question about Farrell for those who have em...anyone know if the "block technology" on the L650 is lesser than that of the H500? I know H500 is the more protective ones obviously but just wondering if I should spend the extra and get the better ones because of the blocks possibly being stronger... I do play defense so not like I don't expect to take some shots to the chest at some point.
I do not know the exact side by side compare BUT I do have the H500 and have had a direct hit hard wristshot from someone who can bring it and I literally felt nothing. It absorbed it and the puck fell at my feet, it did not bounce off. It was like it just absorbed all of the energy.
I mean you look at it and see block and think about what if a stick blade or puck hits in between the blocks it would kill you but it doesn't work that way.
Also I wear the 5 pad compression shorts with the block technology using small blocks and got hit right in the ass with a slapshot outdoors as I wear CCM coach hockey pant type things with the Farrells under them and it did not hurt.
I am very tempted to try out their elbow pads made for football to use on outdoor ice because I wear 4 shirts and jerseys because of the cold and regular elbow pads won't fit underneath.
I think they make hockey elbow pads and hockey gloves.
It would have prevented this nice knock I got this past winter on outdoor ice.
