Its actually 5 points back lol.

A win tomorrow against Washington would keep things mildly interesting.

But, its a monumental battle and at this point a huge pipe dream.

We'll see what you're saying after Matt scores a hattrick tomorrow, while setting Greg up for a pretty goal that gets Dutchy to crack 30 goals & 60 points on the season...

If we miss by 4 points of less we will be able to say

"If we didn't blow that 3 goal lead in the third period of game #1 we would have made the playoffs."

Weren't we 5 points back of STL with 5 games left when we ended up beating them out and winning the division two years ago? Of course the Blues had a playoff spot clinched and had a little less to play for than what Minny has right now but **** it.... Roy Not Us?

I think that disastrous 4 game homestand after the All-Star break really set the tone for the Avs petering-out in their playoff push. Not only did they leave 7 pts. on the table there, but they reverted back to being a team not confident in their game. Ultimately, this "special group" has no one to blame but themselves for where they are right now. They had numerous opportunities this season to solidify their position in the standings, but they always seemed to find a way to play some of their worst hockey when they were in the drivers seat.

That's really pretty true. It was like a mini version to their starts to the season the last couple years.

They put themselves in a hole, and it took them forever to recover mentally and stabilize things. They still haven't really. If they had another month or two in the season they might finally get back to where they were before the break.

It's like how they lose the momentum in games after giving up a goal, or after a couple tough shifts in their own end.

Roy talks about it all the time. They lose momentum and they can't seem to regroup mentally and get it back.

Well if we win that game who knows what happens the rest of the season.

We probably don't get off to the poor start. The team put so much stock into having a fast start to the season that they were shell shocked when they lost that first game by blowing the big lead.

If the Red Wings do us a favor tonight and we pull out a win against Washington it gets interesting again.
