Trent hunter put up 25 goals and 51 points his rookie season and only came with in 5 goals or 10 points of that one other time in his career

Marek svatos and Petr prucha

Svatos was my first thought too. 32 goals, 50 pts in 61 games, 5th in Calder voting at a rookie. But, his struggles were due to repeated injuries, so I'm not sure he really fits in with the examples provided in the OP, or the spirit of the thread.

Petr Prucha in 05. He had Jagr when he should have been MVP setting him up on the power play. Next year Rangers brought Shannahan in, who took Prucha's place on the power play and that was pretty much it for him.

In one of the least egregious statements he's ever made, Stan Fischler claimed Prucha would be better than Crosby.

Jason King got to play with the Sedin Twins during King's rookie year. Was even named rookie of the month.

King- Twins. They were called the "matress line "

Lockout happened after and King never really became an NHL regular after that.

Matt Murray.. ???? won 2 cups before he was a ROOKIE. Murray seems average now and often injured.

People saying Selanne are wrong in my opinion. He had a season with the Ducks where he put up 50+ goals and 85+ points while Kariya only played like 20 games that year. Just dominant

Seriously check out how awful this team was outside of Teemu:

I understand what you are saying, but watching Selanne's rookie season was magical - although his rookie goal record was kind of the product of Tie Domi.

It was magical but playing on a garbage team and still putting up over 50 goals is even more impressive to me.

Svatos was so fast in NHL 2004. Always traded for him
