No grades, pass/fail.

Pass: Schneider, Jagr, Elias, Zajac, Henrique, Zids, Gio(not his fault he's over used), Clowe(when healty), Greene, Fayne, Gelinas(not his fault he's not getting good coaching), Volchenkov, Merrill.

Fail: The rest.

Incomplete: Josefson, Boucher, Larsson.

60 PIMS isn't too crazy. He's not exactly Verbeek or Dano out there. We took the second least penalties in the league and Marek wasn't even top 50 in the league in PIMs.

He's 113th

http://www.nhl.com/ice/playerstats....L&viewName=penalties&sort=penaltyMinutes&pg=4

You take a carbon copy of this season every year.
And Zid's plays with some grit too. He's not some soft offensive d-man. If someone is taking liberties with another player he is up in there. Him grabbing up Zuccarello early in the year might be the highlight of the year imo. So a fair amount of those penalties are good one's.

Larsson - B (When he actually played)
Volch - C
Salvador - Z
Harrold - D

Cory - A
Marty - C

Agree with everything but give Volch a C+
I would say he is the most improved player from last year (Zids a very close second)

He has zero hockey IQ on offence , but played much better than last year and seriously picked his game up last half of the season IMO.
I know he plays sheltered minutes and is most effective on the PK and from the hash marks down in our own zone , but he did the best with the tools he has.

He was decent positionaly compared to previous years where he got caught running around a lot.
He has a decent stick , never gives up , is fearless blocking shots and sacrificing his body to make a play. I think he is the type of player that does whatever he possibly can to win a hockey game.
He is not the most skilled player in the world , but would block a point blank slapshot with his adams apple if it meant preventing a goal.

Not saying he is great overall, just think he deserves a little better grade due to his effort and improvement.

Call it a gratitude + on the C grade.

Ha. I love this goofy crap.

Jagr A+
Zajac B- (playing next to Jagr, all year, and you score less than 50 points- that's hard, even if you bring the defensive intangibles)
Zubrus D+
Ruutu INC
Clowe D (I love the 'if healthy' argument. If Pelle Lindburg was still healthy he'd get an A. This guy was supposed to be a 15-20 goal scorer with grit. THHPPPT)
Henrique B+
Elias B
Brunner C-
Ryder D
Bernier F
Carter C+
Gionta C-
Josefson INC

Greene A
Zidlicky A (exceeded all expectations in my book - his goals were big goals too)
Fayne B
Gelinas C+
Merrill B-
Larsson INC
Salvador F-
Volchenkov C (compared to last year when every game was a bad game... I can't even think of more than one bad game this year. that said - would be a great 7th Dman, and that shouldn't be at his pricetag)
Harrold D

Schneider B+
Brodeur B (had 3 more wins in 4 fewer starts at his ripe age. don't know how anyone can give him crap. What, should he have won 30 with the same terrible offense and bad defense that Cory got?)

Come on BG, clowe was a good player for us this season when he was actually playing. His PPG is good enough to justify his salary. His health however, may not be. It is concerning that the guy can't keep away from getting concussions.

dude, I'm completely with you if there wasn't a prior history, and the guy's biggest question mark wasn't his health to begin with- and the fact that 50% of the reason for him being here is his grit.

Are the grades for effort, or effectiveness? I give Clowe and Gionta an A for effort, and C- or D for effectiveness.

If hypothetically, Niedermayer blew a knee in 99 or something, and it became CHRONIC and he couldn't skate well - would you be giving him an A?

Cam and others were on point-a-game paces at some point too - and Clowe showed nice hands - but how you get 26 points in 43 games == "a point a game pace" I'll never know.

Did he fail to live up to his contract and what this team needed from him? Look at Brunner - only played about 10 more games and had the same points - and compare the two guys' grades...

Not to pick on you, because I've seen it from other posters too. But so many As and Bs for a team that missed the playoffs.
