Stones is on the bench. This is by choice. They don’t need CBs today
They have poor CB depth in general. Nothing to do with isolating today’s lineup at all. They won’t win the league this year because they have a hole at CB in terms of depth and quality in general.

I still think LFC need a forward in January to hold City off

Their depth this year isn’t dramatically worse than previous years. Sure they lost Kompany, but they have enough cover.

The difference this year is that the only CB who is actually good on their squad suffered a long term injury.

If Laporte was healthy this year, their depth wouldn’t really be an issue at all, just like in previous years.

When Otamendi is the 3rd choice and there's nothing after that yes it definitely is an issue. HIs level of play has fallen off a cliff.

Maybe, but Liverpool still has a lot of quality at the top even if they do lack depth. And, I’d rather have a hole on the front line than in the centre of defense.

Im taking the Laporte injury into consideration. He’s out long term. They have a major problem a CD relating to winning the title.

I disagree. They only had 2 CBs who were actually good at defending in Kompany and Laporte. They lose one of them and the other has been injured. They needed to replace Kompany and didn't, and now they are stuck playing Otamendi and Stones again who are both horrible defensively.

Otamendi has never been good for City. Must have been a fluke year in La Liga to win defender of the year, because he's been terrible since he moved over.

They’ve definitely underperformed and there some some sickness or disease or something majorly wrong with the tram but on paper I think most would still say they have the 3rd best roster and depth of quality. The biggest mistake they could make at this point is not changing managers just for a major shakeup which is clearly needed.

They don’t have the third best roster, they look considerably worse on paper than Leicester, Arsenal and Chelsea. Regular starters in Lloris, Rose, Sanchez, Sissoko, Aurier and Winks are not even nearly fit to play for a top 6 club. The signs of regression where very clear last season, and have been for a while, but people where not able to see that because they fluked their way into a CL final.

I agree that the signs of regression were there last season, especially in the second part of the season. But it’s not for a lack of quality on paper. The quality is why the overwhelming majority gave them the benefit of the doubt o at how bad the second part of the season went for them.

There is something very wrong in the locker room or with team spirit or something. The overwhelming majority of fans and pundits didn’t pick them to finish 3rd because they’re stupid or biased. They picked them to finish 3rd because on paper they’re the 3rd best and deepest squad.

Truth be told that tying goal was karma to Watford for wasting so much time and flopping around. Unfortunately for them the game couldn't end after 75 minutes

Looked like it was gonna be level at the half. Pretty uneventful until City took command with two quick goals.

Well gutted by the game today. Mooy played his best 30 minutes as a Gull and it got taken away by a weak second yellow. I was really happy to see Potter stay true to the sport, he tried to play football and score. CH would have shelled up as much as he could.

Great signs yet again, just need to stay disciplined and capitalize more on chances.

Well, there is a massive lack of quality too, they only have two consistently world class players. Their players are not nearly as good as people like to think, and that will keep showing. A few years ago they where a small overacheiving squad full of youthful optimism, work ethic and willingness to prove themselves, all things that have faded away.
