A bit yes. Villa getting blown off the pitch by City was a serious possibility here as Villa is a terrible team. Why bother showing up if you're going to bail when the expected happens?

City give up a really dumb penalty about 2 seconds from time to spoil the clean sheet.

Overall they completely dismantled Villa though.

Which (forgive me the pedants corner moment) isn't all time.

Not least given Shearer had one hat trick in the dark ages that I can recall off the top of my head (pre-1992, that is).

Dixie Dean's career total was 37 hat-tricks, though I'm too lazy to check whether that also includes international and FA Cups.

when the number 37 comes up with regards to Dixie Dean, it is always referenced as top flight so that leads me to believe it is just league hat tricks
