There should be something in the CBA where you are allowed to cut a player (without taking a cap hit) due to conduct detrimental to the team.

It's called waiving. ;)

GD Adams seems to be impervious to it though. Worse player in the league that gets constant play time. Fights our best player over the last 2 years in a meaningless practice......Almost injures our best prospect in a meaningless practice.......My frustration with certain players on this team that seem to never be held accountable is growing into hatred for them.

Why is he still on the team?

It would be nice if some of these so called journalist (ahem for anyone who sees this) actually got the dirt on this issue and broke it... its nice to whittle the days away spouting opinions, but what is supposed to seperate the actual media and us nobodies on an internet board like this is they are supposed to actually get facts from sources and report them, not just retweet nonsense and give unsubstanciated thoughts on things like this :/ that area is already well covered here..lol

Can someone explain this Bylsma spy stuff with Adams? I haven't heard about this until now..

Supposedly he was a rat and tattled on everything the players were doing to Bylsma... came out during the small period of transition when the media was leaking stuff instead of covering it up

but by waiving still doesn't that just send him down to WBS? IMO he shouldn't be anywhere in the org. I thought they can't and won't cut him because of taking either a cap hit or a dead roster spot w/o him

Waive him to Wheeling. When he doesn't show up, stop paying him. **** you, Craig.

Most standard pro contracts have clauses the allow them to be voided if a player partakes in conduct detrimental to the org. However, he would have to be caught doing blow with hookers, get a couple of DUIs, or something of that nature.

I dislike Adams' play last season, occasional inability to clear the zone, and complete offensive ineptitude as much as the next guy. But some of this talk is in tin-foil territory.

He's an intelligent guy that is on the wrong side of 35 and staring down the end of his career. Everyone here notes how his contract is one that no team would touch, and he wouldn't be claimed on waivers, so I am sure he knows when we don't want him anymore, he is done in the league. He sees guys like Farnham come up that do all the things he can do and then some, and look to be shot out of a cannon on every shift, and he likely fears for his job like anyone in his position would.

This is his attempt to show he's still got some gas in the tank. You may not like his approach, but guys like Tocchet probably do, and Malkin can obviously check him if he feels it's necessary, so I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

Sure you can waive him, but due to the CBA his cap hit won't go away. With precious little cap space, it's hard to do that. However, he shouldn't playing every night.

And, at this point, just eat the space and get the cancer out of here.

I think there's a reasonable excuse for Adams' practice behavior recently.

Since he's the consummate pro and team leader, he saw the misuse of Farnham and tried to take himself out of the lineup (Rudy style, going into the coach's office and laying his jersey on the desk, "This is for Bobby"), but the staff and the team knew he was too valuable to the success of the team that they wouldn't let him do it (boiling over with the first Malkin/Adams dust-up because Geno wouldn't let Adams turn down a gameday roster spot). So taking it upon himself he tired to create opportunities for the coaches to bench him that would absolve them from criticism from the downturn in the team's play that would come from benching Adams and losing the on-ice leadership and PK specialist.

Adams, looking out for the good of the team.

Or at least I'm sure that's how Adams sees it in his mind.

If Adams was really a problem in that locker room i think he would of been waived or traded before the year, common sense tells you they wouldn't keep a 4th liner who makes 700 K on the team if he was a problem in the locker room.

An intelligent guy wanting to show he still has gas in the tank would be doing that in a game ... not taking runs at the team's leading scorer and top prospect in practice.

Sending a teammate who had reconstructive surgery on their shoulder crashing into the boards isn't too bright though.

I'm trying to keep an open mind and not jump on Adams ass. But now writers like DK are saying he is surly and the locker room would throw a party if he left. Like I keep saying, something seems weird, but I can't put my finger on it quite yet.

Did anyone notice Adams on the video of Farnham mic'd up? Farnham came back to the bench and asked Adams if McLeod was really tough and everyone else responded, but Adams kind of just sat there and grunted. It just seemed like he didn't want anything to do with Farnham.

And now all this plus the rumors of him being a mole. I don't think it's a stretch at all to call him a bad teammate.

Remember the home opener this year? Varying amounts of cheers for each player. Straight up silence for Adams and a whole lot of boos. Bad player who's disliked by fans and now his teammates? Pull the plug...

If he wasn't on a 35+ contract they could bury him in the A. They can bury the minimum, plus 375k, I believe.

With a 35+ contract, they can only bury 100k.

The stuff with Adams, again, is so ****ing weird. Why would Shero give a 35 year old who was clearly slowed down (that's being kind) a two year deal? Why not year to year?

Odd. Just as odd as why he always plays and as odd as the media pimping him as the heartbeat of the lockeroom, then telling us he basically isn't well liked.

Was just at Consol for a game. When you enter through the main entrance, there are cardboard cutouts with four players for kids to take pictures with, I believe they are Crosby, Malkin, Letang/Kunitz, and of course Adams (wearing an 'A' no less!)!

For ****'s sake.

...which I can also verify to be true. Just seemed so damn out of place that I had to mentally make note of it the last time I was at a game.

i still find it odd that adams "refused to speak" about the original malkin incident while malkin had no trouble talking about it and brushing it off. does he still brush off the second incident? does he have to go after sutter to finally piss mj off?

this is all perfect timing with the whole sill is gonna pk now thing
