Since this deal was signed, Malkin has 121 points in 126 games. Downright bizarre that someone is bumping this thread asking "was this a mistake?".

Malkin is clearly not what he once was and I think his point totals paint a bit of an inaccurate picture (his play outside of production has declined and it's not shown in his point totals), but the dude makes $6.1 million a year. Owen Tippett just signed for $6.2 million a year and his career high in points in 49.
