Take it away, kdb...

Greg Jamison - “I used to run races on the track team — one mile and two miles. I remember we used to break down the road into segments, saying, ‘Let’s just get to that tree,’ and that’s what we’re trying to do here.â€

Greg, Greg
Greg of the Desert,
Strong as he can be. *Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*

Watch out for that tree.

Greg, Greg
Greg of the Desert,
Wants a team that's free. *Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*

Watch out for that tree.

When he gets in a scrape,
he makes us wary
with the help of his friend,
an ape named Gary.
Then away he fled
on his elephant Ed
While Yvonne and Joycie
Stay in step.

Greg, Greg
Greg of the Desert,
Friend to you and me. *Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*

Watch out for that tree.

But if a city is willing to pay for the team, why should they be moved?

Because it's in an unhealthy location and there is no benefit whatsoever to the NHL. If no one is watching or attending games in Glendale the team should not be in that market. It's a dead market and there is no growth potential. The situation is embarrassing and frankly it makes the NHL look like a bush league.

Major market presence is always a benefit. The NHL isn't the only franchised business to accept a certain degree of loss to maintain failing locations. The COG has generously kept the lid on the amount of loss the NHL has had to accept.

So what happens to Jamison if he doesn't buy the team and leaves the NHL holding the bill for this season?

Provided they average 12,000+ per game with an abbreviated season and all of it Divisional play cutting down on expenses, lower payrolls of course and very likely another playoff run based on I believe the same roster pretty much with only 3 new additions, losses shouldnt be that staggering. Whatever they may be, the NHL is in an enviable position. They can easily re-coup whatever losses are incurred through a relocation sale, and then some, Quebec being the most likely destination at this juncture.... as for Jamison, Id assume he returns to San Jose where he still owns a minority share in the Sharks, and last summer also bought a franchise in a tier II Jr.A league (pay per play of course), along with whatever else he engages himself in doing, which according to his fabulous website includes Sports and Entertainment Property Investment, Management & Ownership.

So what happens to Jamison if he doesn't buy the team and leaves the NHL holding the bill for this season?

They unload the team during the summer to Québecor, with a super high relocation fee to pay the bills, and this whole farce finally ends.

Or they find another mystery (but super duper serious this time) owner, that might possibly be interrested in buying the team and decide to wait another year.... or ten to see if they might possibly ever sell the team. Most likely Ice Edge alone again, or maybe Jerry Reinsdorf, or maybe even Jim Treliving and Kevin O'Leary.

Who knows when it'll end? The NHL doesn't seem tired after so many years of this madness.

Speaking of which, with a new thread, it's time for another look into the past!

12-17-2008, 05:59 PM by GSC2k2*

More to the point, why in God's name does any thread about Phoenix or any other market devolve into a discussion of Winnipeg??!? You would think it is the middle of the freaking hockey universe.

Take it to another thread.

Gretzky in talks with investors who want the coyotes in PHoenix. Yes, real money with big players are involved. Phoenix won't be going anywhere.

And 4 years later the story keeps going, and going, and going....

So what happens to Jamison if he doesn't buy the team and leaves the NHL holding the bill for this season?

The money'll just come out of the other 29 teams.

The NHL's funded by the 30 teams (29 now that they own one), so technically the other 29 teams each own 1/29th of phoenix.

There were 3 uncounted and 22 bankruptcy, so 92,000 not including the uThreads. I guess we're coming up on 100,000 sometime soon.

Of course about 46,000 of those are from posters who can't find the multi quote button.

Town NHL hates !
Yep. Like the Energizer Bunny on a saline drip of Red Bull, Krystal Vodka & Viagra. Batteries Not Required.

On my, there are Mondays where I would need such a mix.

But anyway, I really hope this season is the last one we talk about this. For everyone's mental health. NHL cannot possibly justify keeping the status quo past July 2013, they either sell it to Jamison or they move it, keeping the team in place under NHL control is like doing race with tires that have 200 000 miles under the skin.

Based on their actions it would seem that the people running the NHL disagree.

Anyone else kind of bugged that in the end, if this sale does not go through, the NHL gets out of this mess with no loss because of expansion/relocation fees? I know it's their business but damn....

The COG AMF contract, put forth to JIG, is due to expire on the 31st of January. This deadline is much ado about nothing! With the season opener Saturday, that should have been the self imposed deadline that the fraudster Jamison should have been looking at! Once the team begins play and enacts a marketing scheme it puts Gramps on the outside looking in for the remainder of the year. Contracts are in place as are the few marketing and admin folks. His signature would need to wait until the season is over to have any effect. If he has investors, then he has proven himself to be completely incompetent by not closing prior to the opening of this season. To those who say he is waiting to learn the nuances of the new CBA, that is baloney! He has had access to the broader framework that makes up that deal for weeks, possibly months. This all goes to the point, that he will not be buying this franchise! Never intended to from the start, what a joke!
