Well, the only ''unfair'' thing in this is that I honestly don't think Barroway is responsible for all the 300M or whatever millions the debt is rumored to be.
When he bought the Coyotes, he bought the debt that came with it as well.
I agree with this, in this way...
Whatever Barroway is supposed to have paid, he took on the debt which was already there with his acquisition. Much of the debt was in the form of IA debt. All the numbers which were thrown around at that time are basically worthless, because who trusts the NHL BOG anyway with anything.
But in any case, I think the BOG assured him he wouldn't be on the hook for any of it. He gets the privilege of acting like an owner (which he is not able to do himself) at a guarantee of no cost, even though there will likely be little profit in it for him either.
