On today's (June 6) podcast (hosted by Luke Lapinski, Craig Morgan, and Jaime Eisner), they talked about the possible three arena location options and it was mentioned that fans should check back in 'two weeks'...

Source (starting at approximately the time mark 27:05): omny.fm/shows/the-natural-hat-trick/the-natural-hat-trick-caps-year-6-6-18
Yeesh, there was nothing new in their arena location spiel. Maybe even a little retro with the mention of a possible downtown location. It is hard to figure out if they are that dumb or just terribly naive. Maybe we should ask them where do they think the money to build any arena would be coming from? But I guess we would just get the same treatment that the NHL would give anyone that would dare to ask that question.
There was one interesting statement though..the one concerning figuring out the ownership of the team. The last I checked the owner was Borrowaway and he was looking for investors. It sounds to me like they were implying that the team is up for grabs again.

2 weeks...right !!! I will set a reminder on my phone, I don't want to miss "THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT"

No matter who ends up with this franchise...
the debt is something that must be dealt with first...
any profitability will likely take decades to be realized...

Well, they haven't seen a profit in decades, so what's a few more? With as much debt as they incurred, they might as well invest in the typewriter industry, landline telephones, or in things that are likely to plunge in value, like Bitcon, err, I mean, Bitcoin.

Probably a bit of both...

Never talk about money for building an arena...it just leads to that private/public partnership nonsense...

Only if Barroway cannot find any local investors...will it then be up for grabs... ;)

The proper word is fortnight...but my phone does not have that setting... :)

They're trolling us with the "two weeks" thing. If there were a big announcement in two weeks, they would have whittled those three options to one and there would be a lot more news coming out right now.

Maybe just maybe and what i am about to propose is crazy in the mind of a north American,
they should let the fans buy into the franchise. yeah i know in europe you can become a member of a club and have to pay a little fee every year. but isn't that also a possibility? 30% of the franchise coud belong to the fans. they can send represantatives to investor meetings and bring in their ideas. on the other side they can help their franchise and try to hinder the relocation. I know that is crazy and propably a stupid idea for some people. but i made up my mind for a long time now and i think this conxept could have a future.
the local support would rise too, because it's no longer "just"the local franchise but "your" team. Of course their has to be some borders for the fans to demand somethings but i think that could work very well. Also the fans would not get money for their share. or just a tiny bit.

only Green Bay does that, and it isn't an option today...

That (community ownership) not an option I'm afraid as HUTCH informs. An idea that has been floated many times over the past 8yrs or so, or that the City itself buy the club, the Tohono oo'dham Native Tribe who developed a casino/spa/golf course etc adjacent to Westgate where the Coyotes arenas' located.... suggested they buy the arena & a piece of the Coyotes at one time however that too not on as again, "community ownership". The NHL, Major League Baseball, the NBA & with the exception of the NFL's Green Bay Packers (goes back to the 1920's & Grandfathered in) community ownership not permitted.... There are a number of minor league baseball teams owned in whole or in part by communities, publicly traded & so on, Toledo Mud Hens for example, some of the developmental & feeder clubs to MLS, Washington State, California & elsewhere... In Europe quite a different story of course. Different models.

Given we're now in the offseason will be interesting to follow this saga again. Will we finally see an end to this saga or will we finally see a resolution which results in a stable arena and ownership or relocation? Let's see.

But we could create an fund. Like those nuns. They bought huge parts of wapons firms and could change the policies a bit. That could be an option.
I know that is "hinterfotzig" (i don't know how it's called in english), but it could work. And we would have only 20-30% of the franchise.
So we need a lamb who is playing the investor or chairman of our fund. That would be a way around the rules.
But i think the idea is dead.

here you go.

but it's in german...

Indeed "it was" Ej.... as in Gone Baby Gone.... A) We only allow links to english reports & so on and... B) That one decidedly political what with the NRA, Ruger, Trump, Religion etc all coalescing, meeting at an intersection & no thanks, not here Kumpel, crash bang boom. ..... C) The NHL forbids community ownership, municipal or governmental ownership, issuance of public offerings for the purposes of publicly traded stocks & shares in teams is also absolutely verboten so... as interesting as the story might be... irrelevant. Off topic...

for my part, i think the current owner has an idea for the future. But we will never know, because everything is a shareholder secret..... we must find a shareholder who is willing to leak something.

^^^ No worries Edenjung, and Welcome to HF Boards!.... At the moment there are no other "shareholders" in the ownership structure of the Arizona Coyotes. The official story & narrative according to the NHL is that Andrew Barroway purportedly owns the club lock, stock & barrel. Majority Owner. Looking for some investors after buying out his former partners as he's not even close to being Big League Wealthy & borrowed, heavily leveraged in buying out those former partners just a year ago. No one looking at investing is going to say anything publicly, no "leakers". NHL not saying a word other than that "optimistic". All under a cone of silence, secrecy. All messaging carefully controlled.

@Killion
Thank you for that warm welcome ;D

Mayby it's for the best if everything is silent. When we look at the last couple of years with the bancrupcy and the owner bingo, a bit silence is for the best.

For the matter of the arena.
I hope for us to get a new stadium, it's not the best place.
But i understand the city and the state that they don't want to pay for that arena.
We will know more in a few weeks.

Bettman (visiting Barroway at the Gila River Arena office): Any progress, Andy?
Barroway: Shhh...I demand we talk about this under the Cone of Silence.
Bettman: But it is just the two of us!
Barroway: NHL Rule 86, Sub-section S, paragraph 6, "Whenever Coyote issues are discussed outside of headquarters, the portable CoS unit must be used."
Bettman: OK, Andy...

Now...to make it complete...Bob Parsons needs to invest in the Coyotes, too...

To quote from the article:

"Asked whether Parsons or YAM Properties is worried about the Coyotes' future at Westgate, [Director of real estate at YAM Properties Dan] Dahl said he did not want to comment on speculation. Parsons has not considered buying the Coyotes, or the arena, Dahl said."
