Wouldn't the Suns be subject to the same issue (per CasualFan's post about the perils of being an arena tenant on tribal land)? Of course, couldn't a team work in some kind of mediation clause, legal measures to protect them from that scenario?
Yes of course they would. And though it may be somewhat politically incorrect to state it (dont care) if a deal goes south with a Native Band? They go Militant & dont mess around. I do not care how many 1000's of Billable Hours, gracious smiles & handshakes were talking about to craft any supposedly Bullet Proof agreement (be it any league)... if things dont pan out?..... and this is Anthony LeBlanc were talking about here... trouble waiting to happen.... special kinda Lockout you mess up in over-promising & under-delivering. Hair triggers.... Weve all seen this be it housing developments, ski resorts, roads, whatever. If their seriously going to drop hundreds of millions & then pay IA some kinda krazy AMF & they fail to deliver within 12 mnths... oh ya... you got a real problem on your hands be it the NHL, the NBA or the NFL. Your screwed. Take Federal Intervention to cure. GD Army.
Not like the NHL hasn't already ignored their ownership rules. Maybe placing a team in a sovereign nation in the US is a test bed for future expansion to Europe/Mexico.
Theres that (lowering the bar in terms of due-dilly to below the bottom of a snakes belly). If a "test"; predictable...classic. Like one of Jerry Lewis's old movies.
