These hot dog jokes used to be somewhat funny when it first started but it also got old and stale quickly.

Anyways I remember Dion Phaneuf when he bought out by Kings was said to have offers but nothing happen and he just quietly retired.

He might be getting offers but he also might not wanna play for 800K, which is probably all he’ll get at this point. I don’t see why he’d wanna play anymore other than maybe a nice pay cheque for a couple million. He’s won multiple cups and has made over 90 million in his career. Maybe he wants a 1000pts but I don’t think Phil cares for stuff like that.

Hell be signed for sure. Between being a very well respected veteran and recent cup champ, hes the type of guy teams want in the locker room.

*If he gets 8 more points and another cup:
400+ goals
1000 points
4 cups

That might be enough to get him in to the HHoF...

If the Canucks are interested, is the hangup because of Kessel?
Local media guy connecting dots so I'm not sure it has any legs.

I wouldn't mind it at all but I do suspect there will be some time for him to get into things.

Curious, could the Canucks sign him to a PTO or something?

PTO’s can only participate in training camp and pre season

ATO’s can play in the AHL though.

He's going in the HHoF right away for sure already.
but they are probably dangling those 8 points in front of him like a carrot on a stick.
I doubt it. There are guys with more goals and points than him that are on the outside looking in.

None of those guys have 3 cups and half of them have 0.
Also, Kessel's iron man streak adds to his prestige immensely.

Is he even in playing shape at this point?
I'm not trying to be mean, it's a legit question for any player that hasn't played in almost a year. Especially a player who is 36 and not know for his fitness.

Maybe. Had he won the Smythe the one year that he was definitely in the running for, that would have helped, but has he been high in voting for any individual award ever? Hart or Pearson, because it wouldn't be the Selke.

He may get in, but I don't think it's a lock by any means.

As a 10 min a night, 4th line PP specialist, he can help a team. Pens PP hasn't been the same since Kessel left. I think that was part of the Karlsson motivation.
That is the fault of the coach putting too many cooks in the kitchen. Last game they rolled with two more even units and each unit scored. Will be interesting to see how this works out going forward. Geno and Phil hate each other, Phil won’t be back in Pittsburgh.

Only two player over a PPG on that list. Mogilny and Theo. Not sure what Theo has done to get so blackballed by the flames. I get it he was a coke head who was a hot head. He also is a survivor of sexual assault and has done a fair bit as far as awareness goes.

Not saying he should be in the Hall, but the Flames need to retire his number. No one has worn it since he left Calgary anyway.
