I don't think anyone is saying don't make any moves (well, maybe Striiker :naughty:)

But people want to trade #11 to sign Trouba to an long-term above market extension, uh, that would be stupid.
Some people want to trade Ghost for clearly inferior players.
Some people would give Hayes $7M and a NMC.

The only game changers aren't coming here, Panarin and EK.
Nor is Duchene (though I don't consider him a needle mover).

So in the end it's going to be a series of incremental upgrades this off season, in that case, don't blow your wad, because odds are Fletcher's going to want to make moves NEXT summer, and before the ED, and he should want to retain both assets and cap room for that reason.

This team is on the verge of becoming competitive, and given the probable roster at LHV, and Allison/Laczynski/Kalynuk/Cates potential signings, along with Hogberg, the Flyers roster in April could be very different than October, depending on how kids pan out.

Say Farabee, Rubtsov, Laberge or Kase get off to a hot start, they might be up by January and one or two players on the way out at the TDL. Look at the Pens in 2014-15, adding Murray, Sheary, Rust and Kuhnhackl in the spring.

So add Hayes on a reasonable deal, pick up Stralman or Spurgeon at a rental fee, trade the 2nd rd pick for a middle six veteran forward to buy time for the kids. But don't give out gross overpiced FA contracts, and don't trade premium assets like Frost, Farabee, Ratcliffe, #11 unless you're getting a top young player on a cost controlled contract in return.
