As with most PFs. And just watch him play, he mostly plays with abandon, and rarely holds anything back.

I think how much they party and how serious they take being in top shape matters more. Plenty of guys have played hard and stuck for a long time.

Compared to teams such as Pens and Canes it is. 2m less than pens and less than the Canes.

It's $4.5 mill less than pens. But it has to be said that pens 1c ($9.5 mil) and 2c ($10 mil) by far more superior to couts ($7.75 mil) and hayes ($7.1 mil).

He could have gotten so much more on the open market. He must really want to stay with Philly.
Some players value the security and comfort rather than upending their family and having to make new friends. I can understand it.

For sure right? Has there ever been a good C in this league, who put up near PPG, and was good defensively, past 35?

Like Selke winner Ryan Kesler? He's 36 today. You can get him for $6.875m if you can twist Anaheim's arm into giving him up.

Damn good contract. Even if the last year or two is above market value, and I'm not sure it will be if the cap starts going up the way it was pre-Covid with the new TV deals starting up, they're still getting 3-4 years below market value for a Selke level 1C. Well below market value.
