100% agree that Fletcher needs to have a hands off approach with the draft. Trust the people who have had success and you’ll look good too. Just when you think you have a good stock of prospects you get guys coming up.

Yep, no need to rebuild that part. Keep what works with the scouting system and add to it.

Fletcher's drafts:

2009: #16 Leddy D, #161 Kuemper G (155g, .912), #182 Haula LW [no 2nd rd pick, 3rd rd #77]
2010: #9 Granlund C, 5'10 185 became a starter at 21, broke out at 23, ES 32, 45, 45, 46 prorated
#39 Bulmer RW miss, #56 Larsson LW (traded to Buffalo 2013) 4th line type, #59 Zucker, 5'11 183 didn't break into the lineup until 23, broke out at 25, ES 46, 46, 28 prorated
2011: #10 Brodin D, 6'1 198, solid but nothing special, 2nd pair D-man, #28 Phillips miss, #60 Lucia miss
#131 Seeler D, 6th/7th Dman, #191 Graovoc C, played some last year, bouncing around
2012: #7 Dumba D, 6'0 182, starter at 21, first pair at 23. #46 Bussieres, #63 Draeger misses
2013: #46 Olofsson D, 6'3 194, 6th/7th D-man at 23, #81 Gabriel RW, cameos at 22, 23, left as FA to NJ, #137 Soucy D, 6'5 211, call up at 24
2014: #18 Tuch RW, 6'4 222, let to Vegas, started at 21, ES 27, 56 prorated, #80 Belpedio D 5'11 183, one game but in the AHL and in their future plans at 22, #109 Kahonen G, .913 in AHL, [no 2nd rd pick]
2015: #20 Ericksson Ek C 6'1 208, up and down this year from AHL at 22, #50 Greenway LW 6'6 227, up at 21, ES 25 prorated, #135 Kaprizov 5'9 185 LW, 46g 20-13 32 +26 in KHL, [no 3rd rd pick]
2016: #15 Kunin C 6'0 195, coming back from ACL, 21g 8-7 15 in AHL, #106 Duhaime 6'0 198 LW, 23g 6-13 19 Providence, [no 2nd or 3rd rd pick]
2017: [no 1st or 2nd pick]

Overall, solid but not spectacular, seemed to improve since 2012 but traded away a lot of picks so fewer opportunities to find starters, not a lot of big hits after the 2nd rd, more depth finds.

No fixation on size, some smaller forwards, but hit on two big forwards in Tuch and Greenway.

While Fletcher probably won't match Hextall's drafting prowness, he should do better than Holmgren.

I don’t think they’re too worried about drafting right now. They have a lot of good players on the way, and plenty of good players now. It think they want fletcher to be more focused on winning now.

Just watched Oilkings play Hitmen on sportsnet CHL game of the week to took a look at Zamula , had not seen him since October in Brandon . . He was fairly smooth on his skates and had a good active stick and made some good outlet passes . This all being said he is a very good pickup of a prospect especially cause it was for free but there is no way in he double toothpicks does he belong in the top ten of our prospects lists . Guys on here saying he should have been late first early second are smoking crap . When i even compare him to out 2018 picks i would put him behind Ginning and Ersson , even with Willie but ahead of St Ivany . To me and it may be a bit premature but i find him more complementary but not a play driver . This being said he has good tools and is projecting upwards but guys ranking him real high are just thinking of what Myers has done .

Didn’t you say you used to scout?

I also find it funny you think St Ivany is the worst of the bunch.

"you can't do damage to prospects by overcooking them"
I 100 percent agree with you but that is not what this form wants to hear . the damage you can do is more of a mental thing . By calling guys up that is not merit based is what really pisses this board off . calling guys like Goul but leaving guys like Myers down leaves no logic .

Well, Wylie is having a heck of a season, Ersson is dominating and had a great WJC, Ginning has been solid in the SHL at 18 years old and didn't embarrass himself at the WJC. So being "the worst of this bunch" isn't the end of the world for a prospect.

Goul hasn't been "called up," he's been inserted as a 4th liner with limited minutes and sent down when other players got healthy. He's older and more experienced than the prospects.

Getting "called up" means you're getting a shot to win a job, like Lindblom last year and Vorobyev this fall, but you still have to win the job.
