So you watched him beside Jake Muzzin, where he was actually fairly effective?

I still don't understand the dividing line on this. Looking at the numbers just reinforces what I see when I watch him play.

He's decent at shutting down rushes and the cycle, can't make an outlet pass, and doesn't do much in the o-zone.

That speaks volume to Muzzins ability and less about Zaitsev I would say.

Muzzin has a long track record of having positive influence as a good defenseman where when he's on the ice, he's not getting filled in. Zaitsev is the bi-polar opposite.

Maybe he figures it out somewhere else. He certainly hasn't with the Leafs though.
