That's just Jarry. He's MAF-lite. Can steal games with athleticism and when he's on a run he looks great, but he's volatile as shit and can let in multiple backbreaking laughers too some nights. /shrug

Team's stuck with him for better or worse.

Pens ran out of steam in the 3rd, no juice left whatsoever to push for a tying goal! Want to see more energy from the not old core.

Jeff Carter is last to make a change every fecking time, dude gets stuck on the ice, he is too slow to make it to the bench even.*
*
Why no timeout to rest our stars at the end? Did I miss us taking it earlier in the game?

Playing Malkin for 2+ minutes straight at the end aint the solution, guy could barely stand up!

Jeff Carter literally skated over a loose puck that a 4 year old could tap into the EN.

Someone please make him a meme

You never know what Jarry is going to show up.
Tonight it was shitty playoff Jarry.

The first goal was quite bad. A right hand shot coming down the left wing is one of the easiest stops. He was completely off his angle.

But what did you want him to do on the other 2 goals?

Well, at least the puck got shoot out of play 2 times when cnut Ovechkin was fishing for his signature empty net goal, so it could have been worse I guess....

Sully is a great coach if you want to extract exactly 50% of a roster's potential.

Ned should be the starter until he (or Jarry) proves otherwise. He's saving 14 more goals (vs Jarry) per 100xGF. How many points does those 14 less goals against buy you?

Plays our highest pt/min player just 7min and benches Big Z for Harkins. Fire this assclown already. Its just so frustratingly easy to not make these mistakes in who you dole ice time to.

The fact that this shit happens WAY too often to this team is on the Coaches and Culture. If we had ANY mental discipline, we'd find ways to get some of the RLs into the OTL/SOL column, and we'd have a much better chance at the playoffs.

This team finds excruciating ways to lose in regulation, and this is why they will miss the playoffs.

Wins some ****ing games, and when you do lose take some of them past regulation.

I know when you got four goals in one period that the initial reaction is to blame defense,,,but really there was nothing egregious they did to caused this. It was just one of those nights, with just a different bounce there could have been zero goals against. Graves kind of almost closed on Wilson but it was just the split of second release and even Jarry was in OK position, the other goal off Graves was fluke, the third goal was on Acciari letting his guy skate by and have open lane and Ovi's goal was as fluke as they come (Graves again should not screen his goalie but he is as dumb as a brick, not sure how he made it to NHL), they may have had one or two tops chances all night....It was more that our forwards did not deliver when needed, you have the whole third period to score one goal on a mediocre team...with two power plays and Caps killing that collapsed for blocks, they had a bunch a real bunch of pucks hanging around Kuempfer that may with a little luck ended up in the net. Also the forwards coming out in the first with zero intention to attack, just dumping to no one and sitting in the NZ...maybe thats good against Avs or some high flying good teams, but against rotten slow Caps that was a joke. Not sure it was by design, but they should never ever lose the game against these Caps. If they got scored on 10 times they should score 11.
Small points:
Bringing POJ to play with EK is disaster..I guess they will have Ludvig up there since Graves is just a mess.
Smith must go away from L2. It does not seem that Sully has any inclines to drop him down to third where he could try to work his way up, he may find better suited to play with eller.
Carter was beyond bad...unfortunately scored a few points during this stretch to keep im in forever, but he is just that bad.
These should be lines:

DOC G Rust
Smith Eller Puusty
Z Acciari Vinny

Said it before Jarry is goid one third of his games, stinks one third of his games, and is injured one third of his games.

Forwards must be drooling when they go out against Pens D pair of 2 and 27.

Graves is brutal. Period
You don't have to be a pro scout to see that.

Two out of the first 3 goals were on Jarry with an assist from Graves and the third one was on Graves entirely…anyone who doesn’t see this is just finding excuses….did we have our “sea legs” in the first period? No, but we often haven’t had them lately and have taken awhile to get going…that’s what your goalie is for…

I think the move to put Graves on the third pairing last night should stay in place for a while.

I would then have Pettersson play mostly with Karlsson, but getting a few extra shifts in key situations with Letang. They've already been doing that a little bit because of special teams play, which has meant the three of them are usually over 20 minutes but the other three defensemen are not.

Play POJ with Letang for a couple of games. They have some chemistry. Let Ludvig heal up a bit. And then see where things stand with POJ and with Graves.

It's too early for Jarry to be in his April form. ;)

It's fitting that we lost to a wrister from the blue that went in thanks to a screen and another goal that went in for the same reason and proceeded to waste so many good opportunities to score by going for unscreened shots or our latest favorite - shot-passes.

A good effort in a comeback attempt but you can't rely on your goalie to bail you out so often after you sleepwalk to a period or two. Especially if you are team that scores far more easily off the rush than off the cycle.

Sully actually kept Rakell on L1 and dropped Graves to the third pairing after than nightmare of a first period he had but when you have a guy like Karlsson shooting from everywhere and the opposition bunkering up like they are playing the 1987 Oilers or something, you gotta try to take the goalie's eyes. Yes, with a bit of luck could have worked because this Caps is pretty bad but when you play with fire, you sometimes get burned. We got rather lucky in the previous two games, now unlucky, need to be smarter and rely less on bounces and our goalies standing on their heads.

You know The Posters who rant & rave about Sullivan this, Sullivan that when they lose & then Give all the credit to the players after a win or win streak is just ridiculous ! It is Both & If These players need the CS to get their heads ready for a game against the Crapitals That is all on the players they were a no show for the 1st period

This is the most annoying part with all of the over-passing and shit late in the game, specifically on the late PP chances and 6-on-5.

We have no killer instinct. Guys passing up shots in the slot trying for cutesy redirects or slap passes. Make the goalie make a save.

Problem is, I doubt Sullivan’s the one telling them to force the highlight reel plays. That’s on our stars.

Graves gives interviews like Ben Lovejoy and plays like Jack Johnson. Just the right amount of obnoxious.

Jarry with another first minute goal against is always going to be a very long game. We have seen this scenario every now and then and always get the same result. Should have replaced him after the 2nd goal a few minutes later.

And what is Harkins and Accari doing on the ice with 3 minutes left in the game?? Well done Sully!

I guess it's good that they responded to Sully chewing them out, but why does it have to get to that point especially when they are already in a hole?

How they played the rest of the game is what is so frustrating. They are capable of playing good hockey. At least a playoff spot type of hockey, but they've left so many points out there.

Going down 4-0 only to come back and almost tie it up! I was entertained.

I wish they had played Ludvig. He may not be in Wilson's weight class, but he would have stood up to him.
