Not much to complain about, but I have to say, that last goal looked PATHETIC on the replay. Neither Simon or the Flames defensemen were at all skating towards the puck, Simon easily muscled the Flames defensemen off the puck and then he feeds Cullen for a 1-timer. Like that was pathetic to watch from the Flames D, who was that?

So much for this D group being able to shut down McDavid

Ya idk what Gio was doing there. Lax to the puck, then when he got to it, he just stood there and put up no fight with Simon.

Well, if Brass is out, the safest place to put Sprong'er is next to Sid and keep the other lines in tact.

They switched Olli and JJ's playing time and i like that.
Olli played 20 and some change/JJ 17 and some change.

I don’t think we can get a call-up out to Vancouver fast enough.

It's 2 days, if they know Brassard's injury is severe enough, they likely would be able to. They're not playing tomorrow. They probably wouldn't but nothing would surprise me at this point.

The question is... would you play him with Crosby? The 2nd and 3rd lines are playing too well to screw with, and I want zero part of Rust with Crosby again.

They should because it makes a ton of sense, especially with it moving Guentzel back to LW, but we all know that's not going to happen. Hornqvist will likely get bumped up and Sprong will continue to look super out of place on the 4th line.

+++ I think everyone deserves a plus tonight. They dominated the entire game. I'm going to go a different route and highlight some talking points that weren't really discussed in the GDT.

+ Leadership: Sid/Geno hustling their asses off even when the game was 6-0. Kessel was backchecking at 5-0. That is the type of leadership that really does send a message to the team. People will say "But save energy!" No.. save energy at practice and/or rest days/off days. That type of leadership will create good habits and create a mentality/culture the youngsters need to step up to.

And from a d-side of things, Letang is really stepping up his leadership. He's playing terrific hockey. Norris-like hockey. Please just stay healthy and stay at this level. Please.

+ Murray: Ah **** it.. he deserves special honors tonight. I thought Mur was suffocating the puck like he used to and was playing chess while Calgary was playing checkers. He was ahead of everything Calgary did.

+ Players who needed some points: Rust, JJ, Brassard can really benefit from some points. Maybe a little confidence. Maybe some energy. It's really good to see those guys get some points and I hope it leads to much better consistency from each of them.

- Possible Brass injury? Missed his last couple shifts. :(

A good result but still giving up too many shots.

This will go off my leadership comment in the OP. Simon took the body on Gio on goal #9 because the leaders on the team were doing it up 6/7 as well. Gio thought Simon would just skate by and ignore him because they were up so big. Instead he finished the play. That's why it is important not to "conserve" energy by being lazy on the ice and creating good effort/consistent habits. It goes through the lineup.

What's sad is that the leader on the Flames is giving up like that, it's really pathetic to see a captain just quit on a play like you saw Giordano quit there.
