Morning after: Still happy, but dead tired. Went to bed around 1AM and woke up at 6AM. It is going to be a long day at work

As someone mentioned in the other thread, the craziest thing is that a three-peat isn't far-fetched. We will have some cap room, we have depth in the minors AND we will be able to add to the D. If JR makes the right moves, and he has so far, this team should be even better next year.

Does it mean we will win? Nah, many things, as we have seen this year, have to happen for you to hoist the cup, but we will certainly be in a good position to do so.

But, meh, that's next season, let's enjoy the win for a few more weeks

With the proper retooling this summer, and Letang figuring out how to remain healthy, I like our chances to be right back in the Finals next year.

We need to put Letang on the patented Phil Kessel "Don't try that hard until the playoffs, but then flip the switch and be elite, ya know?" plan.

At the very least, limit Letang to 20-22 TOI per night during the regular season. Ovechkin 3:16 says the President's Trophy doesn't mean ****. Coast into the playoffs in whatever seed and then set Tanger loose for 24+ minutes.

Letang plays every single shift like we're down a goal with under a minute left in game 7. There's just no caution to his game. Everything is 100mph with a ton of reckless abandon.

Letang, Sid, and Geno. Those minutes should be lessened next year and preserve their careers. Also, give 'em days off. Force Sid to take days off from practice.

Does anyone know what Trevor Daley was doing rolling around on the ice after they cut to Matt Murry

So Cullen played more than Sid and Geno last night. He played more than everyone but Hainsey and Dumoulin (26 minutes!) 2 minutes more than Sid, 4 more than Malkin. Crazy

A few things that caught my eye

Geno led the playoffs in both scoring and PIMs.

Arvidsson was a -10 in the finals.

Murray led the playoffs in save percentage (.937), gaa (1.70), and shutouts (3) in 10 games. MAF added 2 more shutouts, for 5 total.

I can't believe they pulled this off. I thought the Letang injury would be fatal to their Cup chances. What an amazing team to overcome everything this season. So many guys like Fleury, Kunitz and countless others stepped up so much.

It was also great seeing Hornqvist get the GWG against his former club in the SCF. What a storybook finish. Neal could outscore Hornqvist every year for the rest of their careers and we still win that deal.

Nashville has an excellent team but I thought we got better at dealing with them in games 4-6. Probably the speed and aggressiveness Nashville plays with was tough to adjust to early in the series coming off playing a team like Ottawa.

The early whistle on Nashville's goal was a brutal break for them and an unbelievably huge break for us. Seemed like the refs weren't willing to give us any more breaks after that when you see the PP chances wound up 4-0 in Nashville's favor. Cullen winning that draw on the 5 on 3 was huge as well. Probably one of the two biggest plays of the game along with the Horny goal.

Enjoy the parade and the rest of the summer everybody!
