Seeing how we are going for an approach that lets us get players for free because of the attractiveness of our franchise, I wonder how our presence in Russia is.

This was my thought on him as well. A younger version of Kunitz. He could perhaps even one day play a 3rd wheel role like Kunitz played - especially if we have someone skilled and fast on the other wing... say a Sheary, Guentzel or Kessel.

I mean Kunitz in his prime was never a bad player. And I think most people's ***** wasn't about him or Dupuis individually being on Crosby's wing... it was the pair of them and what it allowed other teams to do to nullify that line.

That said I'm not holding my breath that he pans out. Most college free agent signings do not. But as others have said... free stuff. Everyone wanted him, and we got him. If it doesn't work out, it cost us nothing.

The only problem with that is that Kunitz will still be playing in the top six for the Pens when ZAR is in his mid-30's.

As someone who dated a graphic design major in college for a couple months, you are sorely mistaken.

They don't have "tests" per say but is a lot of time spent on projects.

The list of UFA defenders is a log pile of "meh" or "alright" this off season. I like the idea of MDZ on the cheap. He could be a serviceable 5/6 defender. Could be cheaper than Dailey and comparable to what we get on the ice. There is Kulikov that we maybe to get on a reclamation deal. Or we could target Stone... Other than that I just see some "meh"...

MDZ, Stone, Kulikov, Smith, Oduya, Russell, Hainsey, Franson, etc could all be a 4/5D in the NHL. Not all of these are ideal fits for our system, but that doesn't mean they're not capable of playing those minutes - they are.

A guy like Adams probably realized he had to major in something worthwhile because he wasn't that good at hockey. Him playing hockey in the NHL as long as he did probably shocked him too.

As much as I loathed and hated Adams in his time here, I've heard he's a sharp dude. He was chosen to be one of the primary player reps during the CBA discussions and negotiations because of his background. What role, if any, he played I have no idea.

Pretty sure he's a financial planner now with Myrell Lynch?
