This is the most likely outcome TBH.

The team is going to start sucking long before Sid & Geno retire. Look at them now - they suck with all of these guys right now.

We are a 100 pt team. The Metro isn’t really getting any better either and Tampa, Toronto and Florida are all going to start falling off too.

I don’t seen any reason why we’d suck next year. Might be a drop off, but we will be in a battle for a playoff position most likely.

All the Malkin people care about are the following in order:

1. Highlights which happen like 1 in every 10 games at this point.

2. Stats (see point per game and disregard plus minus or record)

3. Being an “important” voice on a hockey messageboard controlling a narrative.

4. Attacking detractors with valid criticism

5. Penguins winning.

Let’s see what the new ownership group cares about.

Over the last 2 months we are pacing at what, 70-80 points?

1) More people agree with the idea that Malkin shouldn't be brought back next year. Just generally they are silent on this board because they will be shouted down by the predominant opinion.

2) You have been trying to axe Malkin for years which is incorrect.

Disliked for criticizing a professional sports athlete who gets paid 9.5 million dollars and often plays against the grain of the team.

Thanks for the nice words.

I doubt that’s the case. Maybe if he wants the same salary…I could see it. But if he’s willing to take a paycut to help the team be more competitive, you probably cant find 20% on this board who would want him gone.

I think most of us are certain that Crosby will retire a Penguin, but will there ever be a time that he’s off L1 because of his age? I know his conditioning is excellent.
Logically Hextell would try to make some type of splash in bringing in the next guy or is it going to be slumming it after the core are done?
