I hate when people reply like this. Do we want journalists/insiders to tell us whats happening behind the scenes in the NHL or do we only want them to tell us things that are almost certainly going to happen?
Gms talk trades etc with other Gms all the time. Most of the time nothing happens, that doesnt mean there havent been talks about it.

People need to understand the difference between "testing the market", "beeing traded" and everything between the two.

Agreed. I have a lot of conversations about deals I might or not want to make for my business. I pull the trigger on probably 1 in 20 reasonable opportunities. Fit, timing, optics, security all play a role. If things aren't working the way you want them to, musing about what you can do with the assets you have is the right thing to do.
