Play nice.

We are stocked on thread bans and warnings. Anybody who wants them can get them. All it takes is posting anything that violates the rules of the site.

Edit: since the first post in this thread seems to be overlooked by opposing fans who like to troll via drive-bys, I've stickied it. Troll and you'll receive both a warning, and a reply ban from the thread. Participate in good faith, and things will be fine.

Fair warning. [YWGinYYZ]

With Roslovic picking up his game a bit lately, Laine may be following suit a bit. Roslo looks like a potential line driver in the making. Think Laine is on the cusp of breaking his slump.

Your Mind
Laine needs to get his shit together.
He is barely a 6-7 million dollar player right now.
If he isn't scoring on one timers he is pretty much useless.
His board play is terrible and He has been handling the puck like a live grenade.
I don't know if he is lacking confidence. If he isn't listening to coaches. Or even if the coaches aren't coaching.

But something needs to change. I wouldn't even be opposed to parking his ass in the press box for one game.

Killer shot, but plays and thinks the game to slow.
just not true at all. laine thinks the game better than anybody on the team not named scheifele, whom he's at least on par with in that aspect. his offensive processing and instincts are especially off the charts ridiculous, possibly better than 55 which seems almost impossible when you think about it.

Absolutely agree 100%. The reason why those two can create magic together is the hockey IQ both have. They know what the other is thinking and it makes everything look fast and flowing. They predict instead of react and it's needed in a fast paced game. Reaction is too slow, you need to know where buddy is going. He needs to know what your plan is. That is chemistry. There is no time to negotiate the plans, people who are on same the frequency get it, people thinking different plays won't .

You spelled Eric Staal wrong...
lol eric stall alone wouldnt fetch laines jock..

until he is played with shieffele ppl need to relax. if he fails with our #1 c then panic

ESL was thee best line while it was together. and more than capable defensively ppl act like wheeler is 10x better than laine in the d zone.. hes not maybe 5x :D but having a lack of chemisty makes the 2nd line 10x worse than it wld be with wheeler. so you gain a net positive of 5 math checks out! i think,, its late

People need to ditch the excuse of Little bringing Laine to earth.

This season, Laine is 13th among the Jets' forwards in GAR (0.1 goals above replacement). That basically makes him a replacement level player. (although I wouldn't use this term quite literally...)

And before you revert back to bashing Little, let's look at what he was last year. 13.9 GAR, largely playing with Little as his center. (Laine has played more with Little relative to total TOI this year than last, but the difference in GAR should not be this strong anyway)

Laine alone is at fault for playing like shit. A guy who is supposed to have this insane skillset should not need certain linemates to not look like a pile of trash on skates. Kinda looks like the horrific overrating of Laine has deceived some people to believe that Laine is some superstar, because what he has shown thus far this season demonstrates why Laine is far from the upper echelon of skaters.

im not saying little is trash im a big fan of his but . hes a shoot first center wheeler is a line driving play maker. shieffele is a line driving play making center laine is sniper/shoot first winger. just makes sense to try it now and see if it works if not then switch back.. only takes 5 games to test

Play to his weaknesses and you get this crap.

Anyone remember what happens when played to his strengths? I do.

Do we really need more of this, or would we prefer the other?

I would rather watch that mvp guy than this shadow.

No excuses for constant lack fo effort, but you will never stop making excuses.

It all starts from Laine and has to start from Laine. When it does he will start to get rewarded.

Lowered Expectations

As his agent said, expectations are too high considering he is not playing in 1st line, with 1st line center. People are expecting him to put up 1st line numbers regardless.
Don’t expect 1st line like scoring without actually playing in 1st line. It is as simple as that. Not until two or three years of physical and mental maturing.

Edit. Here is link to his agen’s comments in Finnish Patrik Laineen agentti ei ole huolissaan asiakkaansa tuloskunnosta – suomalaistähden rooli on kuitenkin "epäsuhteessa odotuksiin nähden"

Maybe... But I guarantee when it comes time to sign his next contract, his agent will be asking for money as if Laine had fulfilled those lofty expectations and had been playing on the 1st line all along.
Asking ain’t getting.......

Due to the crap that has been posted here, I expect nothing short of Lemieux-esque brilliance.

On a serious note, it is fair to expect NHL level effort, development, and professionalism. It is also fair to expect him to play at a second line level, which he is not even close to as of this year.

The guy is essentially burning money right now. He had better start showing signs of being alive soon, or else his payday will be a smaller one.
