Why exactly would he waive for Buffalo? What would entice a guy in Buffalo? Maybe the fact that they overpay everyone would be something that would entice a star player to go to Buffalo but not much else. Im sure he's not delusional and can see the Sabres are heavily overachieving.

Alex Pietrangelo grew up in King City, On. I don't think its hard to envision why a player who grew up two hours from a low cost of living city would want to play for their team, which happens to be on the brink of contention.

He'd be playing with a defensive partner with the highest upside we've seen in a generation. Not to mention some other high potential game-breaking talent such as Eichel. There's a lot of reasons to avoid Buffalo but there's some merit to the suggestion that he'd waive to play there as well.

Well with the salary cap preventing teams from overpaying, they have to find new incentives to keep players around.
