As noted above, Pap was a solid possession player. The idea that he is useless when not scoring doesn't seem to have much basis.

Meh, whatever... we opened up a spot for one of our youngsters and got a 6th round pick for "free" (aka waiver pickup).

Getting anything at all is already more then what Lou got for PAP last year.

Not a single team even wanted to claim this guy off waivers at the start of the season...even the Islanders signed him in the off season and placed him on waivers lol why the hell is everyone shocked at only getting 6th round pick for a player that literally no other team wanted when they could have had him free lol

Lol we traded a guy who was on waivers to start the season, a guy who didn't get an offer until training camp and an AHL defensman who was never going to be a NHL player. What the hell did you expect? Lol

The Rangers gave up a 2nd and a 3rd for a third pairing rental, that's terrible asset management. We got what we could.

And you just summed up how good of a trade Holland made for Detroit in that move. Why couldn't Ray do the same thing?

Because he wasn't trading players as good as Brendan Smith. He was trading a 4th liner, a guy he picked up on waivers, and a guy he signed during training camp. He got what he could.

We were basically selling out of the garbage pile at a garage sale. I'm not sure why people think Shero didn't try to get the best return he could for the players he sold.

Seeing what other players got, I think a 6th was the best pick available for Parenteau.

Would have liked more, just don't think it was possible.
