Yandle for Kessel is actually a decent thought, especially with the losses at wing with the departures of Dadonov and Hoffman.

Q must REALLY have a problem with Yands. Not a way you want to start the season if you're a Panthers fan.
I will respectfully make a slight correction. Moving Yandle before the season? Some of us fans are like:

For those asking why Florida wants to dump Yandle, watch him play defense. Great personality and locker room guy, but he doesn’t make the team better on the ice.
Perhaps a reason why he's only been to the playoffs 6 times in 14 years...

Fix it the same week the season opens? Fix it by clashing with a productive veteran assistant Captain who is also the most senior player on the team? Threatening his league leading iron man streak to try and force him to waive his NTC?

I can get Q not liking his attitude, I probably wouldn't either if I was his coach. Just seems a lot less than ideal.

he’s not the senior most player on the team, he’s not even the senior most defender. They supposedly tried to move him at the beginning of the off-season, it would appear as they’ve acquired more players and started practice those efforts have apparently escalated.

Yandle is a cooler on the level of Matt Duchene. Collecting his paycheck to be a power play specialist and a good dude. Then hitting the links and the beach. I don't see him being too bummed about missing the playoffs.

say detroit gets yandle then trades at 50% retained to a contender in a 3 way . would would detroit get out of it ?

Detroit wants to eat half his salary for 2 more years after this one?

I imagine there'd be interest just not sure there's enough interest to justify it for Detroit especially right now when team rosters are pretty much set.

Maybe Yandle and an add to Detroit for nothing and then they auction him off later.

Yandle not fitting in their top-6 D? Is that a joke?
Also, good luck moving that contract without getting absolutely dusted.
He’s not completely useless and we could always retain. He’s still a high level point producer. This isn’t Loui Eriksson for god sakes. Doesn’t fit out mold of not sucking ass on defense.

its detroit spending 3 years of cap space , during which time the space isnt needed , for a pick / picks or prospect to improve future instead of just letting the cap space go to waste

I was playing around the Panthers lineup on Capfriendly some time ago and i had this very thought. I put him on the 3rd pair leaving a decent dman sitting in the pressbox. Doesn't make a lot of sense to have a guy making 6.3M playing a role like that.

I remember watching a Panthers game last year and facepalming a couple times watching him play. Some boneheaded decisions without the puck, dumb penalty, even with the puck couple very risky plays and turnovers.

Panthers are trying to become a more stable team defensively and when one of the 'leaders' on the ice does stuff like that it's just not going to help.

Sure he can put up some points, sure he's a vocal guy with a lot of experience. But he's not a player the Panthers need and at this point they need a change, enough talk.
