The Game Story

The New York Islanders will try to extend their point streak to 12 games when they host the Florida Panthers at Barclays Center on Saturday.
The Islanders are 10-0-1 in their past 11 after their 10-game winning streak ended with a 4-3 overtime loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

Panthers center Vincent Trocheck practiced Friday and could return after missing seven games because of a lower-body injury. Florida, which has gone 4-1-2 without Trocheck, is beginning a three-game road trip and has a three-game point streak (2-0-1).

Players to watch

Panthers center Aleksander Barkov has six points (three goals, three assists) in a three-game goal/point streak after going without a goal through the first 12 games this season.

Islanders center Casey Cizikas has four points (two goals, two assists) in his past two games.

Defense has improved a ton both as a group and as individuals. There is nothing really complex about this defensive system, everyone collapses down low in front of Bob to support each other and not make it easy for the opposition's offense to have time and space near the prime scoring areas/net. The Cons IMO, we are screening our own goalie A LOT (which makes any goalie in league's job difficult), we are always giving them freebies from the point A LOT and our guys up front are getting nailed with pucks A LOT from blocking uncontested shots. Can't argue with the results in the standings (at least when it comes to this franchise), just wonder if these guys will make it all the way through the season. We still need more toughness to deal with the Wilsons and Kadris of the league.

I think the collapsing system definitely works for us. It may not be good for Bob's stats, but he'll fight through it and turn it around. I predict that 5 games from now, his gaa will be sub 3.00 and his svp will be above .900. Once we tighten up a little more in allowing less odd man rushes, our gaa will go down. Our special teams are good, 9th in pp and 10th in pk. Things are turning around. .Q has done an amazing job so far, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Props to Kitchen as well, he's been solid.
