How annoying is it to consider he couldn't get just one more goal last year to hit 50 and the partial season was easily on pace for another 50. 7 50 goal seasons, an 8th on the horizon and the two "aww shucks" seasons and this would be his 10th.
wow now that you put it like that it really annoys me

f***ing NJ couldn't pull their goalie in game 82 last season :thumbd:

For historical comparisons, OV's 49 goals in 17/18 should count as 50 :)
The reason being that coach's challenge (unlike video reviews and other modern stuff) can only take goals away, not add them. And OV had at least 2 goals called off that season.

Pavelski now in a tie for 4th @36. No way in hell he catches Ovi, but he's on a 45 goal pace, and could definitely finish top-5.

Yeah I just don't care tbh.
I also don't care about Mario Lemieux's 199 points vs 200.

To me it's all the same. 1 goal/point more or less, makes no difference. Looks just as good.

Regarding the Rocket race - I said this last week and i'll repeat. Ovechkin will win (duh) - but Laine ends up #2. Watch him go on some stupid 20 goals in 13 games down the stretch lol. I don't even necessarily like Laine - but it's hilarious how he goes on these streaks.

Kane could still win. I feel like wond hot streak from Ovi, which he often has at the end of the season, would seal the deal though

So, in order for Kane to win he would need to outscore Ovechkin by 5 goals in 18 games. I don't like his odds.

It isn't going to happen, the Caps seem to be heating up down the stretch and primed to play their best hockey at the right time. The powerplay is starting to click and the lines are only gelling now. Ovechkin just went scoreless for a few games, he isn't about to slow down against the Rangers on Monday, or the next 2 tanking teams. I could see a real scenario where Ovi hits 50 by next weekend

Yeah, pretty annoying indeed. He needed a hattrick in his last game to hit 50 last year. When he already had two goals in that game, he had a breakaway, but, unfortunately, he couldn’t finish it to get his coveted 50th one. It was sooo close. But then he helped his team to win the Cup, the biggest prize of all.

I keep expecting Drai’s shooting percentage to regress but it’s not happening - dude has been at like 23% for over a month now
