Given where we were 3yrs ago, a GM with a plan and average competence would have translated the millions in cap space MB couldn't figure out what to do with into a significant amount of additional assets... We could & should be far more competitive.
I said I was "ok" with where we are...

I didn't say I'm thrilled or ecstatic.

So yes, I agree with you.

Sorry, I was talking about the Habs.
Leafs have their own board if you are that obsessed with them.
Why anchor to the leafs regular season pt total in one season?

Pretty disingenuous argument, not worth the obvious rebuttal.
Then don’t, move along now

Far more??....like better than the 4pts away from them Leafs who have multiple first overall pick players and a few more top 8 picks?
The difference is the leafs will make the playoffs guaranteed. They had Mathews injured and Nylander missed camp and the first 2 months and still got 100 pts
We barely had any injuries and players had career years
If our top 6 doesn’t get a boost tomorrow, Habs are in tough

They'd better....now it’s almost a guarantee they will lose in the first round too

2008-2016 is a graveyard for prospects with this organization.

Did Bergevin not tell his scouts he wanted priority on C’s last year....and LHD this year

Who came up with the European combine plan??

Who got us Suzuki?

The extra picks to work with?

Our left D problem was forseeable 4 years ago.

The day we traded for Drouin I said as much so it's not like this just came out of the blue.

A year before that, I was also cautioning on our lack of puckmoving skills.

4 years where a lot of us knew there would be a problem with both the left side and our puck moving skills.

No solid trades to help this, but good lord, after 4 years he finally put a drafting priority on the left side, may he be praised, he's finally seen the light!

Come on dude, raise your standards a bit.

Bad trade.....don’t like Drouin, hope they move him.

I was very unhappy with the drafting of late, it’s been good for 3yrs now

I was not happy finishing at the bottom, but it would seem we’ve taken a turn in that regard.

Do you not see the ascension or is your judgement clouded with past failures??

I haven't given him credit for anything...so I can't speak on that.

I'm just saying, given where we we're 3yrs ago, I'm ok where this organization is at presently, who deserves credit for that or how much luck was involved, is inconsequential to me.

I'm not expecting a Cup this coming year, just another step in the right direction.

3 yrs ago? That is all on HIM! You are giving him credit for fixing a problem that he created? He continues to move the same pieces around without addressing actual needs. I won't be giving him any points until he addresses needs. Some of these needs have existed for YEARSSSS!

Also don't understand why we are comparing ourselves to the flipping Leafs who haven't won anything in what 5 decades? Who cares about the Leafs?

That's really not a good reason to mess up
I’m sure there’s a poster like yourself for every team board that thinks this way......

No team goes 82-0
No teams GA is Zero at the end of the year
No team has a PP of 100%
And no team harvests 7 future NHLers in a draft, year in year out

I’m awaiting the team that drafts at 100% rate

Some people just love the mediocrity, or maybe it's the biceps :dunno:

Maybe the hate comes from the purple pants....?? :dunno:

No, just dislike poor management of the team I follow. I'd like to see them committed to excellence instead of mediocrity.

To each their own.

You should probably take your own advice & move along.

The left D was destroyed. Not so much the right D. Subban-Petry or Weber-Petry doesn't make a huge difference. It is the left side that suffered the most. Who would you had kept on left side that was so valuable ? 39 yo Markov ? Party Boy Beaulieu ? Unproven Sergachev ? Emelin ?

Team sucked eggs in 016. Played .400 hockey without Carey. Worst winning percentage in the league. (and the leaf were tanking)

No, this team was wrecked from the outside the crease, to behind the bench right up to the GMs office long before the blue line was re arranged.

I hope our team makes strong roster decisions, guided by a clear plan focused on building a contender.

Not holding my breath...

Hope your Canada Day is mosquito free.

With a healthy Matthews and Nylander from December on........ the leafs were a 17th place team. lol

I could see them battling for a play off position this season.

They won’t battle at all. We will battle and miss
The Lear’s will make it for sure. Will they go anywhere? Not sure
