Why are people writing off Ben Blood?

He has played 1 full season in the AHL.

What D are the Bingo sens planning on running next year?

List of Ottawa D not in the big show.

Boro - 1 way contract next year.
Ben Blood
Wikstrand - will be in SEL next year
Rutkowski
Claesson
Sdao
Wideman - fellow RFA

Why are people writing off Ben Blood?

Because he was a project pick and has since shown nothing except fighting some guy in a handshake line.

In 82 AHL games, he has 3 pts.

In 34 ECHL games, he has 2 pts.

Da Costa has offer on table from Sens and KHL

Ian Mendes in conversation with Assistant GM Dorion, tweeted by Mendes

"Interesting note from that Dorion interview: He said Stephane Da Costa has a lucrative offer to play in KHL. Sens have deal on table too."

He is a stay at home D. I do not care if he has 1 pt as long as he does his job infront of our net.

Don't be one of those people that reads stats and comes to a conclusion about a player.

If Da Costa accepts the Sens deal, you gotta think he's been guaranteed a legitimate top-nine role next year on the big club.

Bingo fans aren't impressed with him either.

Why would you retain him? Because he is big? Ok, aragorn...

Solid signing. Now Lehner should be locked up to a 2.5X2 year bridge deal.

Lehner's been much better than either Lack or Markstrom

Lehner
61gp 2.69gaa .918sv %

Lack (1.15M)
41gp 2.41gaa .912sv%

Markstrom (1.2M)
47gp 3.08gaa .884sv%

Enroth (1.25M)
81gp 2.75gaa .913sv%

Andersen (1.15M)
28gp 2.29gaa .923sv%

Lehners numbers are not so much better that he should be making double what these other goalies are.

I understand the love for Lehner, but we are not his agents. We do not need to try to get him as much money as possible. these comparables show how much he should get.

My main disagreement was with Lehner being a comparable to Markstrom, I shouldn't have included Lack and I honestly have no idea how much Lehner is worth. :)

Based on these numbers I would think that 2.5 million per year is very defensible. He's clearly better than Lack, Enroth or Markstrom while the sample size for Andersen is awfully small.

Here are goalies around the 2.5M mark

Varlamov (2.8M - new contract kicks in next year)
210gp 2.52gaa .915sv

Bishop (2.3M)
108gp 2.40gaa .920sv

Khudomin (2.25M)
57gp 2.21gaa .928sv

Scrivens (2.3M)
72gp 2.69gaa .917sv

Elliott (2.3M)
235gp 2.48gaa .911sv

Harding (2.1M)
151gp 2.45gaa .918sv

Like I said, I like Lehner a lot, but he should not be making more money than these guys. Most have been around long enough to prove they can play at this level and thus earned their contracts.
Give him a 2 year bridge contract at 1.4M, Let him prove he deserves more. When he is ready to be the number one guy, then we can give him more money and bring in a cheap back up like Hogberg or Driedger.

Rask off his ELC got 1.25x2 at a 59million dollar cap

The cap is pojected to be 71 million... I think 1.5x2 if fair for Lehner

Lehner should definitely be under 2... he hasn't actually proven anything and already cried his way into the NHL pushing Bishop out

?? Why. He's probably our most solid young defender that actually plays defense.

I don't mind keeping him for another year or two, but Gryba isn't young (26), and he isn't very good either. He's also really slow, and that doesn't go hand in hand with having a mobile puck moving defense.
