What’s the point for Ottawa? Sanford is absolute garbage.

Good trade for both teams. Sanford was an expiring contract and a bit redundant with STL's forward group, especially with Tarasenko not being traded. Getting a buy-low prospect for him is a nice piece of business to both get some cap room and swing on a young player. On Ottawa's end, it wouldn't surprise me if Sanford produces well with more ice time and becomes a relatively valuable deadline piece for more picks.

If Ottawa was never going to give Brown a chance, you might as well take the risk with a player who’s about the same but a couple years older and a Cup winner. It doesn’t hurt Ottawa or the Blues.

Seems like a pump-and-trade proposition here. Sanford could become an interesting deadline piece if he produces more with increased ice time.

If you play him with a couple possession driving linemates so he can float around and bang in leftovers, Sanford can at least be numbers-productive, if he’s being counted on for anything else, good luck.

He was productive on O’Reilly and Perron’s line. He’s sucked with almost everyone else.

the only thing I hate about this trade is that we only get to play him twice a year.
