I think the problem is the charging. Charging is still a penalty. Can't skate the length of the ice and hit someone unsuspecting like that. I think he did a good job not hitting him in the head but that almost made it worse due to the whiplash. It's also the very definition of a predatory hit.I can't be the only person that didn't have a huge problem with that hit. I mean bad result but you go hard and try to prevent the goal. Wasn't a head shot that I could see.
Not only did they justify that, they gave him a 5min major for charging. So not even just a regular charge.Brutal hit but I think it's technically not a dirty hit. Body low, elbows tucked, gliding for the last 15 feet, etc. But with how fast he's coming in, you could probably justify a charging call.
