Even he should be able to see there's no positive - financially or on the field - from continuing to trot out this absolutely awful player every night who is an embarrassing reminder of how terrible the team is run.

Like, a Pujols you can see as he's doing just enough to be able to justify keeping him around. Davis just seems to be nothing more than a stubborn refusal to admit a mistake, cut bait, and move on.

Well, he might be helping them out this year.

.243 AVG, .290 OBP, .697 OPS over his last 356 games

Pujols would've been cut by now if it weren't for his salary

Oh, of course.

But given paying him the remainder of his contract to sit at home or paying him the remainder of his contract to be a replacement-level (or just above) player hitting .240 with 20 HR/80 RBI, it's easy to see why cheap ownership would take the latter.

Davis ... not so much. It's like playing a pitcher at 1B and is just embarrassing for the organization. Paying him to sit at home and not make the team actively worse and be a daily reminder of your incompetence is far better than to keep playing him.

Plus he's Albert Pujols and is legit respected in and out of the game. Little different than DFA'ing a joke like Davis.

And the things he's done at the plate is dreadful and reflects on his abilities.
He should just give all his mvp's and other awards back because after 20 years he isn't good anymore. He's obviously a corpse of himself in terms of ability, but is a hofer as a person.

Career WAR of 100. He was so good in his first dozen years.
