Peter Stastny, Mike Modano and Gilbert Perreault are 4th liners ... Doug Harvey, Sprague Cleghorn and Pierre Pilote are on 2nd pairs ... Clint Benedict is a backup ... exactly which teams in this league aren't playoff quality? lol voting is going to be difficult.

Honestly probably mine :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Any suggestions for dmen setup for the PP? I got Shore, Zubov, G. Suter, Salming available. Go Zubov and Shore on first PP or just run 1 dman? Balderis would probably be the forward moved up to the 1st PP if I ran 1 dman.

Did Balderis ever play point?

Shore and Zubov both seem 1st PP worthy

GMs Pat Quinn and Kevin Lowe have explicited said what most teams know: If you ain't got intangible skills like backchecking, role playing bodychecking, pk or pp specialist duty or fighting, then you do not belong on the bottom-6 and have to either make the top-6 or else ride the bench/be sent down.

Stastny and Perreault as 4th liners? Maybe in a lackadaisical all-star game but not any Summit Series, Olympic or World Cup. Or any equivalent skillset on an NHL championship team.

We are building complete teams not all-star game rosters. PP, PK, lines to protect leads, lines built to be physical, shotblockers, a guy or two who drop their gloves, are all a part of a typical winning championship team.

I mostly agree with you.

My opinion is that teams need at least two lines capable of playing defensive roles, and those lines are usually the 3rd and 4th line, but not always. Also, the 4th line in particular is not going to see enough minutes to get into an offensive groove, so the players on it need to bring other attributes.

Since I got Morenz, Boucher, Gilmour up the middle, I went for a fourth line that can add extra offense with Nels Stewart. Gilmour will take on more defensive stuff, but Morenz/Boucher can easily do power vs. power.

I don't think that all-star teams have to have trad duties, no? Esp this one where everyone is stacked.

I'll have my votes ready in about 8 hours.

I look at this like the basketball or hockey you see at Olympics/World Cup. When Crosby has to carry PIT's offense, he dogs it a bit on D to save energy. When Crosby has 3 more allstars at center, he can work a little harder on D.

Trying to take good chemistry / line combos into account; pairings that would have worked well, don't have 3 PEspositos on one line. But the biggest thing I'm seeing is just overall talent. Where I'm torn is between rewarding teams with 6 Top 40 players, or rewarding teams with no weak links, strong bottom pairs. When everyone is amazing, it kinda helps to pick out a handful of weak links at the bottom of the roster, where there is more disparity.

1. Everyone will receive a pm with voting info Tuesday.

2. Assassinations usually begin during the last round of picks. Nothing happening in the last 10 days suggests a lack of interest, and with just a couple of weeks of summer left, that's unlikely to change.

Shouldn't each team have to post their stats? Why does everyone else ahve to look that up when it would take ten minutes for each team to do?

I linked every one of my picks to stats and other info in my pick announcements.
Just click on the names.

There's no requirement to provide stats or other information about specific players, but it helps.
