When Clarkson comes back, who goes down? Also same question with McLaren. Are we gonna play with 11 forwards even when those 2 come back?

I'm not convinced they are gonna start the season with 11 forwards available. They certainly wont do it all season.

Putting McClaren on LTIR would give them room to call up someone like Devane or Bodie.

Every body is missing Smith on the roster he hasn't been sent down.

if Carlyle is going to stick to his word that the best guys will play based on performance in camp Gunnarsson should be the 7th D men.

irrevelant stats in the whole grand theme of things.

the fact that we're the youngest team in the league, and stacked with elite draft picks, might be relevant to some people who tallk about needing "true rebuilds".

11 forwards...that's actually sweet lol...just give Kessel and Lupul the odd double shift

11 forwards only for today to comply with the CBA rules of having a 23 man roster under the cap.

Tomorrow however McLaren can be placed on LTIR and replaced at which point a Marlie can be recalled and then his and McLaren salaries essentially overlap for cap purposes as per injured players.

Then the Leafs will have 12 forwards for Game #1.

Sure...they can double shift guys like JVR too...spread it out. Heck even throw Gards up there

I dont like the idea of doing that. Especially on a season that will be compacted by the Olympics. Why tire the tem out more than we have to?

Seems easier to just put McLaren on LTIR. He will be out for a few weeks anyway, what the difference if it is 4 weeks instead of 2-3?
If he is healthy for the last week they can send him down on a conditioning stint to get him back up to game speed. He could probably use it after not playing any preseason games.

McLaren just placed on injured reserve, as per Mirtle.

So, looks like Leafs will have the 12th forward. I believe he is already informed about it, and will be joining the team at noon tomorrow once Liles clears waivers.

Cool,

Who gets that spot I wonder if that happens?

would have to be someone who makes close to McLaren's 700K or less for the cap.

Devane, Bodie, Smith of the top of my head.

Devane doesnt have to clear waivers so he could be sent down on off days to add a little more breathing room.

If players like Bodie and Smith clear waivers there is also a CBA rule that for the next month they can go up and down freely and don't require waivers as injury replacements.

Basically waivers are good for a month if a player clears.

So Bodie could be and likely might be that recall.

There's no re-entry wavers once a player clears he clears for the rest of the year up to certain amount games played... I would have to say considering the role McLaren plays the call up will be Bodie.

Edit:

Mess beat me to it nonetheless I still think Bodie will be McLaren's injury call up.

Reilly has $850,000 in performance bonus giving the Leafs a lot more cushion then it would seem.
Jake Gardiner has $212,500 as well...over a million in cushion right there.

The figure you see in BONUSES: $1,350,000 (from above posted roster) is made of of Rielly ($850k), Gardner ($300k) and Ashton ($200k) in performance bonuses with only their base amounts counting against the Salary cap ceiling.

So that roster posted is accurate at present.

My bad I missed it. The point I was trying to make is there is still room there if injuries happen, the Leafs aren't as hard up against it as some would have us believe.
