Very true. I guess Leivo gets a full season of AHL play next year, probably gets on the big club the year after

Not really, unless you know for a fact what the bonuses cover.

What happens if its play 20+ games, you cover your bonus?

Bonuses aren't that easy and even then they can move the cap hit from the bonuses to next season

Leafs could still LTIR McLaren and call up someone else. But they would have to get cap compliant before they could do that.

Alot depends on when the team expects McLaren to return. I cant see the team running with just 11 forwards for an extended period of time.

A nice little wrinkle is that Liles was the oldest player on the team, and the only guy older than 31 (and Orr is the only other guy older than 30).

I'm pretty sure dropping Liles and keeping Rielly will officially make us the youngest team in hockey on opening night.
