Hi. Do we have any information on the composition of the qualifying groups for the 2026 Olympics? So far I have found Round 1, Group N: UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Georgia... and Group M, about South Africa, Thailand....

Netherlands will host an OGQ tournament in Tilburg this December where they'll face off against Spain, Mexico and a qualifier.

Preliminary round 1 in November has been cancelled. Qualification tournaments will begin in December with the second round.

Group K (Reykjavik, Iceland): Estonia, Iceland, Bulgaria, Thailand

Group L (Tilburg, Netherlands): Netherlands, Spain, Mexico, Chinese Taipei

Group M (Belgrade, Serbia): Serbia, Croatia, Turkey, UAE

Heh, been a while since Thailand got scored 50+ goals against in a game versus Kazakhstan. Maybe won't be quite as bad this time against Estonia, but rather ugly that's guaranteed to get.

So with the IIHF semi annual congress going on in Vilamoura, Portugal, more details about the qualification format are being released.

First thing, UAE are out of the picture and replaced by Kyrgyzstan so Chinese Taipei and Thailand are moving up.

9th seed Slovakia hosting a final OGQ group means the door is open for Russia and Belarus to participate. In case the IIHF decides otherwise at its March meeting, we can assume the best runner-up from the 3rd Preliminary round qualifies to the final one and the one from the final round will go to Milano/Cortina.

Bratislava(Slovakia) group: Slovakia, Belarus, Kazakhstan + one team from play in.
Riga(Latvia) group: Latvia, France, Austria + one team from play in
Aalborg(Denmark) group: Denmark, Norway, Slovenia + one team from play in.

By the way, Mexico decided not to take part and has been replaced by Georgia in Group L making that tournament more competitive, assuming they don't mess up their roster this time around.

Was shocked Estonia is playing in this, they could trample everyone in their group by double digits if they so chose to. Hell, their U20 team would probably be favorites to win this group.

Estonia scored 21 on Bulgaria. No idea what will they do to South Africa which is considerably worse than Bulgaria.

The IIHF actually shut down the stream after goal 14. But the ÍHÍ went through the entire game.
