So TMac, you've tried yelling at your players. What about, I dunno, actually coaching them?

Beyond one of the home wins against San Jose last year and a pre-season game his first year, I honestly cannot remember any other instances in which McLellan out-foxed another coach.

In that time, however, he has been mercilessly taken out behind the woodshed by almost every other bench boss in the league when it comes to match-ups, timeouts, special teams, etc.- you name it, he's abysmal at it. Tonight, it's been a Guy trap special on the road- a "clinic", as Stauffer called it.

TMac is a coach who has gotten where he has on the backs of other, more talented mentors. That's it. At his best, he's an empty suit who has neither a positive nor negative impact on a game; at worst- and boy, it can get worse- he's like an immunization against success.

Learn how to utilize a generational talent, you ****wit. After that, watch some tape and figure out what a real powerplay looks like at the NHL level. Maybe then you'll be in a position to bag-skate players for a week. As of right now, though, you're the reason this team is terrible. Do your job.

A generational talent saddled with a rookie and a third liner... only on the Oilers.

He won the Hart Trophy and Art Ross last year playing with the exact same player.

Don't want to hear the excuses. Wayne Gretzky did not complain that he never had a superstar LW.

Maybe don't ask for 12.5 million either if you can't cut it with what you have on the team as is.

look at the rotating cast on Crosbys wing, thats what happens when you pay two players 20m, the wings are gonna be thin, need good drafting to make up for it

Yeah, and? It happens. Plenty of "good" teams miss the playoffs. Maybe the players should show up to play up to their ability if they don't want it to happen. If one injury to a no.3 d-man takes you from a 103 point team to a non-playoff team, then really you're not ready as a group, still work to do if that's the case.
When you don't have team depth it gets exposed. The Oilers seriously lack depth and there's only so much the players can do. Sekera is a very important part of the team. He was always going to be sorely missed.

The rookie's been the best player in Orange tonight.
That's not the compliment you think it is.

He's not Gretzky and even Gretzky had help. He didn't win the Conn Smythe every year.

About the only positive things I saw tonight were Nurse and Yamamoto playing well. Our vets seriously need to get their asses in gear.

We did drop down to .500 after starting hot last year, so there's definitely time to correct this, but... so far, yuck.

86 shots/attempts by the Oilers and 1 goal.

Sadly as much as we concentrate on D deficiencies... offence I think is the bigger problem longer term.
