Not going to try and defend the rest of the D but Nurse has been carrying Bear the past month. I think Bear needs to play a little less and against easier competition. Put Nurse-Larsson back together. If Benning is back put him with Klefbom then put Russel-Bear as the third pairing and have Bear on the 2nd PP unit.

The Drai Tax was hitting Nurse hard.

Unfortunately, if they go with practice lines, they're leaving him on the top pairing and giving him the team's worst 5v5 defenseman as a partner.

If that's the case, both Nuge and the org are being morons.

Nuge is on a contract year, and is risking playing at a sub 100% level and leaving money on the table? That seems strange to me.

Edit: Looks like his contract is up next year not this one like I thought. Either way, it seems strange to be playing through injuries when the organization is clearly content with throwing this season away.

Nuge is not injured. Drai is not tired.

I'm gone. Honestly I really don't care much for the franchise itself, I don't really like most of these players or anyone in the organization because they make it pretty damn hard.

Have good memories of the 80s/90s but past that this franchise has done everything to destroy any kind of fan loyalty at this point they don't deserve any.

As long a McDavid is here, I'm a fan, that's basically it. If he goes elsewhere I will go and cheer for that team.

But really I mean not so different from like basketball fans, in the 90s everyone and their grandma was a Bulls fan because of Michael Jordan. With LeBron nowadays his fanbase just goes to whatever team he's on (Cleveland, then Miami, then back to Cleveland, now LA).

Starting Smith is really bad.

Draisaitl and Nuge in bad.

Call ups Yamamoto and Laggesson not put into a position to succeed. If they play much/at all.

In short barring a miracle this is a loss. If they do manage a win hopefully it's a legit building point and not just a one off to keep us close.

Pretty sure Yam is getting put into a position to succeed, according to Tippett
