Still not understanding where the logic is in going to market with either of Manning or Petrovic.

Alex Petrovic's contract ends at the end of the year. Matthew Benning is the guy you trade.

Brandon Manning is fine as a #7 next season and has looked fine as a bottom pairing D next to a stable partner. He is a good puck mover who adds some offensive ability to that bottom pair. Just needs a coach who plays him accordingly.

Double down on these bets. They're pretty frigging small.

Edmonton AB
MTL:
Oilers 2019 2nd rd pick
Petrovic
Manning

Oilers:
Hudon

Deal?

(Both players will be waivers pickup the next day in all likelihood).
Not giving up a 2nd to get rid of Manning. He can be buried and not count for much against the cap.

Hudon sucks. Unless it's for a 5th/6th I don't want him.

Any pick or prospect besides our 1st and Bouchard is on the table.

Lol gotta be realistic so no .... can’t believe they just got Manning and Petrovic and now trying to dump

Chiarelli is sitting on a beach somewhere sipping a mai tai and just giggling away.
Wrong, he's sitting on a beach somewhere sipping a mai tai wondering what he did wrong and how he's going to sucker some other team into letting him ru(i)n things.

The only definitively effed up pick was Yakupov and most of the forwards taken top ten suck.

Everyone and their grandma would have taken Puljujarvi at 4. Did we screw up his development - yes. But that’s not the same as effing the pick up.

There were a lot of pundits that didn’t like Yak, was he considered the best forward of the draft sure but if you were uncertain about him as a play you trade down and grab one of the D men:
Lindholm
Reilly
Dumba
Trouba

Like grab another pick.

Regarding Pool Party, the fact that a Finnish GM passed on one of his own should have screamed alert alert. Compound this with poor development and well we know what has happened.

The oilers scouting department needs to be overhauled with the rest of the front office.

What would Edmonton expect back for Lucic 50% retained? (Not asking to take back to Boston, just curious)

Surprised the Edmonton braintrust isn't aware of the fact that it's bad for your GM rep to trade players so soon after acquiring them.

The consensus 1/2 were Yakopuv or Murray. You must be new to hockey because how often has ANYBODY not taken a top-3 consensus player... look at the 2017 draft. Would you have NOT taken either Nico or Patrick 1/2 at the time? In hindsight the following players are better... but nobody is picking Miro or Elias #1 back then.

What is the current value of Lucic with .25% retained plus Edmonton's 1st 2019(lotto protected)
Do NOT want even w/max retention
Aside from $, the term of that contract is a killer.

Rangers can take some contracts for some picks
Only so much and if they work in correct term duration at right $ amount.
Cap space in a cap finite league is a premium asset
We must not squander it
esp, since we do not have compensatory/compliance whatever they called it buyouts set up, where it would cost mostly $ AND STILL partial cap hit, I think.
