The whole bonuses thing with Lou/Matthews is pure speculation only and not confirmed to be a problem by anyone reputable.

Example 1) Stamkos didn't sign his ELC until July 29.

2) Tavares signed his July 15th.

3) Yakupov signed his July 23rd.

4) Ekblad signed September 7th


And that's just recently. Going back even more you have guys like Crosby who didn't sign until September also

Furthermore, the Leafs tend to sign their first rounders to ELC's relatively late.

Luke Schenn- October 8th
Morgan Rielly- August 3rd
William Nylander- August 18th
Mitch Marner- July 28th

Edit: But then again, we could use that extra cap space for when McDavid comes home once his ELC is up.

matters what his conditions are mcdavids were super easy to make drai basically had to go to the all star game and win the calder to get his.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. McDavid is the only 1st overall in the last decade that could have hit those types of numbers in his rookie year. There shouldn't be any worry of Puljujarvi hitting his unless he wins the Calder.
