After the season Smith had, you’d have to think he’d be cheap.
Yes he was the only reason the Flames didn’t get swept, but he’s not very good anymore.
His wife is best friends with Tipp's wife. The husbands have their own bromance going on. We traded Dubnyk for peanuts even though he was significantly outplaying Smith because they wanted to please Smith. Next is his personal coach, John Elkin, becomes Edmonton's goalie coach.
Hopefully for the Oil's sake, Holland saves Tipp from himself on this one.
Once upon a time, we got our Kris crossed. Then nabbed a JJ each. We both also have JP as prospects...
What would Smith in Edmonton and Talbot in Calgary be considered?
Mzarek... Smith... Koskinen what are the oilers trying to do here?
So much this. It's worth a year of Smith for a new goalie coach.Well hot damn, if he chases Schwartz out of Edmonton there might be an upside to this after all. That dude has made every single goalie he’s ever worked with worse.
Chai's gone remember! If Edmonton signs Smith for only a year it could be a shrewd move as he did pretty well in Calgary (and Arizona way back when) his first year there.
If Mike Smith gets a contract longer than one year the Oilers' fans will hate his guts by the second month of his second year.
Giving him more than two years would be completely asinine and I hope, for fans of the Oilers, that their management isn't as dumb as that.
Chai's gone remember!
Mrazek>Smith. Age alone should be a deciding factor. Mike Smith is last week, and Mrazek was the backbone of Carolina and it's return to the playoffs. Smith lost his starting role to a backup goaltender, but got the nod for the playoffs and almost got swept in the 1st round. Mrazek went to the conference finals
Anything else would be a miracle. Unlucky for Edmonton, the 2020 Draft appears to be fairly thin, so they'll pick another Pääyakuljumoto.Oilers miss the playoffs.
