The Sharks would have to take Barrie and a couple of bad contracts (Pulju, Foegele) to make it work. Plus retain on Karlsson. Long-shot, don't see it working.

It would be interesting to see how many points Karlsson would rack up feeding McDrai & Co. and with Nurse eating the toughest defending minutes. He would look like a modern-day Paul Coffey

It's virtually impossible to think of a way to make any such deal work cap wise.

The Oilers had interest in Klingberg in the summer and interest in Karlsson as well apparently. It's perplexing with Barrie and Bouchard already on the roster lol.

The Sharks retaining long term and eating a bunch of 1-2yr cap coming back?
If they wanted 3 first round picks before I can't imagine how much the ask would be in that scenario.

Foegele and Pulijarvi are deadweight, and I'm not even sure of Barrie's value. Those picks are likely to be quite low in the first; seems like the Sharks need another good asset coming back. On top of that, it seems like taking Yamamoto back would be a no-brainer? Big contract, doesn't seem to be finding his game in Edmonton (granted, I'm just stat-watching).

Yamo for Noah Gregor would have to be included for cap purposes

I think that should be enough to free the Sharks of the bulk of that contract. They dumped Brent Burns for nothing and retained 2.7M in comparison

You’re kinda right… but those contracts expire after next season. Does that line up with San Jose’s rebuild? They will at least help you get a better draft position ;)

Sharks are at 50 contracts so they'd have to add one going the other way like a Jeffrey Viel. That along with putting Kunin on LTIR should give them enough space to make the deal happen.

So you add another piece that has no value? AND we take on cap. This is trash.

Karlsson @ 9.5 for Barrie, Pulju, Petrov or Bourgault, 23 1st, conditional 25 1st (you make it to the conference finals either of 24 25 the first transfers, otherwise it’s a 3rd in 25)
