What I like about Hitch right now is you can tell he doesn't give a **** if he's here past this season. He's here for a good time, not a long time. He's actually coaching for the long term benefit of the club and not to save his ass in the short term. That's what did TM in. He knew his job was on the line so he rode on the guys he thought he could trust and the majority of them failed him.

Very true, and it’s unfortunate that his GM put him in that situation.

The Oilers looked okay in this one, but Koskinen, Caggiula, and Puljujarvi were very good. This was a fairly tight-checking game. The Oilers are playing well as a team at this point, especially defensively.

My purely speculative take on Kass's play last year is someone(s) insisted that he didn't play crazy. And since he is crazy, he wasn't sure what to do. Refs give him penalties just for looking at other players with his googley eyes. It drives me nuts. Most times I see much worse happening on the ice even during the call. It's not his fault he's got crazy googley eyes.
