I would like to trade Methot to Columbus for Nick Foligno, he would fit nicely on a line with Zibanejad & Stone. haha

I would not give Zibanejad, let alone 2 other roster players for Johansen.

You don't trade for players with Yashin's character.

At least another(Cowen) would be going the other way and Johansen can somewhat justify his money.

I'm also super pumped about Zibanejad: I think he's going to turn heads this year and in a big way. More so from his play rather than his scoring though, I don't think he's going to hit 45 points yet.

A bit worried about his injuries (concussion and mystery illness to close out the year last year) but what can you do?

Totally agreed.

He's all but guaranteed to be on the 2nd line this year, and get some decent time on special teams.

I have a really good feeling that he'll be the surprise of the NHL this year. The kid is a physical beast and can bull his way to the net when he wants to.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets anywhere between 40-60 points.

I would hope for more in the 50-60 range. He's been on pace for 39 points the last two seasons, and with the upgrade in ice time (More minutes, better linemates) I think he's in prime position for 50.

BTW, when I mentioned 30-40=70 points for Zibanejad, that was down the road, career year. He's likely a mid 60's guy, on average, for his prime years. I wanted to clarify because I agree that 70+ point forwards are the cream of the crop. There were 17 last season, so less than 5% of forwards achieved that.

The reason I say 70 for Zibanejad is cause he's only 21 and he has scored at a 40 point pace in his only 2 years in the league.

Once at a 19 year old playing 2nd line C with rookie linemates on a playoff team.

2nd time as 20 year old player who played his off position most of the season and with minimal help in bttom 6 while leaned on to be a spark on Spezza's struggling line.

Now points and situation doesn't tell the whole tale. The guy has outstanding puck possession numbers. He has shown to be physical with the best of them and among all this, he still seems very, very raw. Also, when leaned on he has shown to have the ability to carry his line and become a factor in taking over a game.

I.E. Game against Boston and Winnipeg last year when he was number 1 C.

Behind you, look out
Ryan to Philly for a 1st, Simmonds and a B prospect

Methot and Condra to Buffalo for Stewart

Clarke MacArthur ($3.250m) / Kyle Turris ($3.500m) / Mark Stone ($0.603m)
Chris Stewart ($4.150m) / Mika Zibanejad ($0.894m) / Wayne Simmonds ($3.975m)
Milan Michalek ($4.000m) / David Legwand ($3.000m) / Alex Chiasson ($0.867m)
Colin Greening ($2.650m) / Zack Smith ($1.888m) / Chris Neil ($1.900m)
Mike Hoffman ($0.750m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Patrick Wiercioch ($2.000m) / Erik Karlsson ($6.500m)
Chris Phillips ($2.500m) / Cody Ceci ($0.894m)
Jared Cowen ($3.100m) / Eric Gryba ($1.250m)
Mark Borowiecki ($0.575m) /
GOALTENDERS
Craig Anderson ($3.188m)
Robin Lehner ($2.225m)

Simmonds and Stewart are best buddies and train together. They should have instant chemistry and a very difficult second line to play against. The third line still adds significant offense. We saw what the first line can do last season.

Still under budget.

You are not getting that return for Ryan, Simmonds is a year younger and has outperformed Ryan in both of the last two seasons, not too mention he's on a great contract for the next couple years.

Ryan isn't going to Philadelphia anyway: they need D and they have cap issues

Ryan can do better if he doesn't want to stay here

I think I alluded to something similar in a previous thread, but if talks break down and Ottawa could manage to get Simmonds from Philly, even without the 1st and prospect, that would be an absolute home run.

I really like Bobby Ryan, but contract status aside, if the Flyers offered a mystery 1st round pick, Wayne Simmonds, and a B-Prospect tomorrow for Bobby Ryan, I'd take that trade.

Simmonds is a capable 20+ goal 50+ point forward on a great contract. Standings are so unpredictable, that Flyers first could be anything from a late first round pick, all the way down to a top 10 pick.

If we're trying to get Simmonds from Philly, it'll cost us Bobby Ryan + our first rounder in 2015 at the very least.
