Abby Chin returning to NBC Sports Boston | Boston.com

NBC Sports Boston’s Celtics coverage team has undergone several changes since the start of last season. But a familiar face is returning for the new season.

Abby Chin is returning to the network as the host of its Celtics pregame and postgame coverage, the network will announce Monday. She will be in the role when the Celtics open the preseason Tuesday night against the Sixers.

Chin originally joined NBC Sports Boston as the Celtics’ sideline reporter in the 2013-14 season and quickly became a popular figure among fans and viewers. But in August, when NBC Sports Boston’s parent company, NBCUniversal, slashed its digital and regional cable staffs, she was among 20 people laid off at NBC Sports Boston.

been following motorsports, along with hockey....

question has been raised as to the future of NBCSN past 2021, and in deference as to those existing contracts, as to whether or not Peacock streaming will eventually become the home outlet for events not contractually shown on NBC .

IT was answered as a potential possibility whether NBC Universal would shutter NBCSN or not, but no final decision was made....

Milbury out as NBC hockey analyst after 14 years

NBC's broadcast lineup features other tweaks in 2021. Mike "Doc" Emrick, the preeminent voice for NHL games on NBC and NBC Sports for 15 years, announced his retirement in October. Kenny Albert, Brendan Burke and John Forslund were all named on the top billing for play-by-play roles in Emrick's absence.

The network also announced it was bringing in out-of-work coach Mike Babcock and retired NHL veterans Ryan Callahan and Dominic Moore to contribute to studio coverage.

Great news!

Don’t mean to be Insensitive about anyone losing a job, but Milbury is such a subpar analyst IMO. Who has a healthy dose of arrogance to top it off.

I liked Moore as a Bruin, hope he does well in the studio.

I have little respect for Babcock or his insights. I could do without him, personally.
I'm with you on Babcock. My guess is he'll replace Milbury's brand of old school, out of touch energy, and won't last very long. NBC seems committed to having a grumpy guy on the broadcast, maybe to make their other hosts seem more personable by comparison.

Callahan and Moore could be cool. I like when recent players go right to TV, as they know a lot of the teams/players and can offer informed opinions. Sharp has done a great job, and while he's a little older, I always like Anson Carter, too.

Couldn't stand him. No emotion at all. Like he was sitting by the fire with a scotch and cigar. Just awful.

Sad to see Pierre put to the 3rd pair. I am a HUGE fan.

NBC needs to start looking at who it hires for the simple reason they were a player or coach. Babcock?

He may be the dullest choice they could have possibly hired.

At least hire players with a personality and energy. Even someone like Shawn Thornton who used to interact well with the media would be an improvement.

With Doc retiring, NBC had the opportunity to use the moment as a time to completely refresh their whole broadcast team. Milbury leaving and new studio guys is part of that. So why the f*** can't we get rid of Eddie Olczyk? He's never been a good color commentator and comes across as a bitter piece of crap most of the time. Yet for like 15 years he's been on the top pair, even after Doc retires? Does he have pictures of someone in NBC management?
