WHA. Hull, Sjoberg, Nillsson, Hedberg. Inspiration of the 80 Oiler teams. Maybe the most influential team of all time. Reading a book on it right now.
I know, buts not the League Team that moved to AZ was my point.

And Kent Nilsson, Lars Eric Sjoberg, Willy Lidstrom, Velli Pekka Kattola, Heikki Riihiranta...Jets pioneered European players in the NHL.

I Remember that 1978-79 team that was the first club team to ever defeat the Russian National Team (1978). I was there!

I agree that the Jets history should have stayed in Winnipeg (and could have been resurrected when the Jets 2.0 happened).

So a while back I floated the idea of signing Steven Stamkos in free agency, and I'm gonna raise that again.

The thinking is that:

1. Tampa may not have the desire or the cap space to re-sign him
2. He can come to us and be a short-term help at 1C
3. He can come to us and be an immediate leader (first Utah captain?)

But, I've also seen some talk from Tampa fans that he is not what he used to be. Expected, considering he's older now. I wonder what his price point would be though.

Would definitely be a nice splashy signing for Utah and fit with the narrative that Smith is looking to let BA spend.

He is not really a 1C anymore. He is a PP specialist and that's about it. I don't want to see TOI taken from the youngsters in favor of yesterday's big names. If they are going to splash, splash big on D or go uber big and pry Reinhart out of Florida.

Three years, 39mil, 13aav (1m base+12m SB annually) with a full NMC, and a guaranteed captaincy.

They need to bring Skjei and Roy to Utah. Wonder if they go after big fish like Reinhart, hasn't he played center before? I also think that we are keeping Schmaltz now, the 8,5m salary shouldn't be a problem.

Keller - Reinhart - Schmaltz
Crouse - Cooley - Guenther
Maccelli - Bjugstad - Doan
Kerfoot - Hayton - X

Skjei - Roy
Moser - Durzi
Välimäki - Kesselring

Ingram

Nothing spectacular, but well balanced defence and offence with a lot of potential firepower

I wouldn’t touch Reinhart. I like the player, but a career year at 29 years old, and he’s already going to be a looking for a mega deal. No thanks.

I kinda agree. Also the 24% shooting percentage can't be sustained for multiple seasons.

I think he is safe bet for 65-75 points, but he isn't +10m AAV player

I think I'd much rather do like 13x3 for Stamkos. We're not locked in long term and he can be the first captain in Utah.

Keller Stamkos Schmaltz
Crouse Cooley Guenther
Maccelli Bjugstad Doan
Kerfoot Hayton McBain
Carcone

Sjkei Pesce
Moser Durzi
Valimaki Kesselring
Koylachonok

Ingram
Not Vejmelka

Three big name additions is likely a dream, but let me dream. Trades are also a possibility if not UFA, especially if guys have qualms about coming to Utah. I could see players wanting to experience it first (as an opponent) to have a better idea, and then coming to Utah the following year.

If we win Celebrini, I think it could be cool too to have Stamkos guide him into the NHL.

Who's this "Not Vejmelka" guy? :P

Rather add Elias Lindholm for cheaper.
If Chychrun is available, trade for him.
Hayton is available for defensive help.
Offer Zadorov a 4 year deal.
Win the lottery.
Go with 8 D on the roster. Maybe take on an older player to play limited minutes.

My money is still on Schmaltz getting traded during the off-season. Not a BA player. And if we get sustainable scoring from the younger guys, this makes it even more likely.

In raw totals or in rank?

Both.

This year's team is the only Coyotes roster to crack 3 goals per game average (3.07), and scored the most goals in franchise history (249 with one to play). Second best in both categories is the 2005/06 team. Coach Gretzky not all bad.

Goals allowed per game is the fourth worst in franchise history (3.36).

Worst defense? 2021-22 at 3.77.

They should sign Matt Roy and a trade for Mario Ferraro.

I meant like rank in terms of relative to the league. Like id guess this team scored more raw total than older ones but was lower ranked than day 96-97 or 01-02. To account for league scoring changes

Me too. It's really the only way to make some room in the top six winger group to add someone else. It's an easier cut opportunity too because management can temperature check everyone in wanting to be in SLC. That top center spot is wide open too...
